"This non-Retina 13" MacBook Pro is still just fine for me and I'm delighted to see that it's still on Apple's list of currently available models! Just $1100. It's the last Mac laptop with a SuperDrive CD/DVD-RW, it has half a dozen kinds of ports, including Ethernet, Thunderbolt, FireWire-800, 2 USB 2/3 ports, a SDXD card slot and an earphone/microphone jack, along with the MagSafe2 power port, oh and the IR remote sensor, too.
It has twelve tiny Phillips screws so I can easily remove the bottom and upgrade this machine as much and whenever I like.
Retina? SSD? USB-C? I'll think about those maybe sometime after Intel's Skylake, or even Cannonlake, come out in volume..."
