Descrição do jogo

A dying village, embraced by everlasting winter, has cried out to you, the Creator, for assistance. The remaining inhabitants of the village need you to bring back all their lost possessions such as the sun, moon, fruit trees, fish, rain clouds, plants, animals and much more!
Players can draw their own characters which then come to life and become playable characters in the game! In Challenge Mode, run, jump and fight their way through an exciting side-scrolling adventure. In Village Mode, take a break from the action and hang out in your village to watch your creations interact with the townsfolk, scenery and other Creations. Advance through an entertaining story, and restore your Village to greatness.

Drawn to Life interview

A portion of a PlanetDS interview with Jeremiah Slaczka, creative director…
PlanetDS.de: First of all can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about 5th Cell who is behind the project and what did you do till now?
Jeremiah Slaczka: My name is Jeremiah Slaczka, and I’m the Creative Director for 5TH Cell. Founded in 2003, 5TH Cell started making mobile games, but we’re gamers at heart so our focus has always been on original, innovative ideas in the console space. Drawn to Life is 5TH Cell’s first Nintendo DS title, and we’re so excited to break out with such a great games.
PlanetDS.de: Usually all games come up with a main hero, who is characteristically throughout the entire game. With “Drawn to Life” you start a complete new way of playing. How did you come up with the idea to let the player create their protagonist and surroundings and how easy is it to do so?
Jeremiah Slaczka: Well, we wanted to come up with a game that really utilized the DS’s main features, and the touch screen was the obvious choice. From there, we kept coming up with different ideas that used the touch screen in a unique way until, finally, we came up with the thought, “What if what you draw, comes to life!” Using that as the core concept, we fleshed out the rest of the game.
PlanetDS.de: The player can not only be creative by drawing his main character, but also the levels can be hand made like plants, animals, etc. How do you combine these features to a charming game play and what is the main story of the game all about?

Entrevista inteira aqui

Drawn to Life scores High in Gamepro

The latest issue of GamePro magazine has the first official review score for Drawn to Life, and it’s a very good one. Out of a possible 100, MetaCritic has the GamePro review listed at a 90. I have been so hyped for this game for a long time, let’s hope this first review isn’t a fluke.

IGN Review

Drawn to Life is a product that needs to be judged on more than just a simple number. In a game like this it isn’t a matter of “yes it’s good” or “no, it’s bad,” as it’s really a blend of unique and unconventional aspects that either will or won’t appeal to a given audience. On the technical side the design and execution is very impressive, including an intuitive and truly unique virtual canvas for players to use, a ton of programmatic animation that gives the game a feel all its own, and a ton of instances where the game requires users to put their creations directly into play. On the flipside though it’s important to note that the drawing is Drawn to Life’s hook, and that aside from that you won’t find anything amazingly unique in the story, gameplay, or level design. We’re not saying the creation aspects aren’t fun – they are – but that’s the extent of the game’s depth as well. For those that are fine with an overly-predictable experience (creation aspects aside) you’ll still be met with great style, impressive animation, some truly beautiful music, and an overall product that’s got an astounding amount of polish to what’s there. And seeing that it’s a kids game, most of the title’s target audience will have just as much fun doodling on the interactive title screen or creating assets as they will furthering the adventure anyways. As a total package Drawn to Life is truly unique, a ton of fun, and a no-brainer for younger DS owners; just don’t expect more than an open canvas and some by-the-books platforming.

Gamepro Review

Drawn to Life is probably a must-have for every DS owner's library. It's super adorable all around and it has tons of replay value. Who your character is and the shape of his environment is literally up to you, so play it as a goth chick, a monkey, an anthropomorphic banana--whatever fits your inner style.

Gamespot Review

Drawn to Life is ultimately best served for players who haven't spent their lives playing the variety of different platformers this game borrows from. Its drawing mechanic is something anyone can appreciate, but the gameplay itself is so simplistic that older audiences may get bored with it after an hour or two. Still, it's easily charming enough to win over younger kids and casual players, and it's an innovative and unique piece of work that's certainly worth at least a cautious look by any DS owner.
