Rumour: Factor 5 Developing Wii Kid Icarus

Reliable sources spill the beans on Factor 5's new project...

Our friends over at Kombo have heard word that a new Kid Icarus title is being developed from the ground-up exclusively for Wii. Development is in the hands of Rogue Squadron experts Factor 5, once exclusive to Nintendo.

This would tie in to news we reported on a week ago, which stated that the development team had patched up relations with Ninty and were back on board the Wii.

The boy angel was last seen seventeen years ago in 1991 on the Game Boy in Kid Icarus: Of Myths And Monsters, though his status in Smash Bros. Brawl as a playable character is likely to raise his profile somewhat. Treat this as rumour until we hear something more definite - N-Europe will bring the latest as it breaks.

nem kid icarus me parece um jogo de factor 5, nem o pit a aparecer no brawl quer dizer alguma coisa. Já os Ice climbers apareceram e não vejo nenhum novo jogo com eles

A jogabilidade do Rogue Squadron 3 é muito má nas cenas em que se anda a pé. Mas em compensação visualmente é bem melhor do que muito do que se tem visto na Wii.
Por mim faziam um Turrican 4 ou 5.

The Kid grows up. First-ever artwork for Factor 5's rumored project, starring adult Pit, revealed.

Earlier this year, rumor said that Factor 5 was working internally to revive the beloved Kid Icarus franchise. Although we do not have much new information in regards to the project, we have acquired various pieces of concept art for the game, showing various different versions of Pit's new design, plus concept work for some of his weapons.

When we last wrote about the project, Factor 5 was in the process of pitching it to Nintendo. In the time since, we've spoken to at least one source that claims the Big N has expressed interest in publishing such a project. However, at this time, we are uncertain of whether or not Nintendo has committed to doing so. In other words, we have been unable to confirm whether or not Nintendo has officially green-lighted the project, but if we had to speculate, we'd say things are looking good for it.

The artwork we've published comes from a pitch document we got our hands on in the early part of 2008. Since then, sources have told us the game's artwork has advanced considerably. Despite this artwork not being reflective of the game's current standing, we've decided to share it so fans can get a look at what Factor 5 has experimented with.

The last nugget of information we have to share with you is in regards to the game's plot. At the time of the document's writing, Factor 5 had imagined a plot starring a grown-up, adult Pit, who is "cursed for thousands of years for a crime and becomes a 'fallen angel'." The pitch adds that "a tattoo on Pit's arm bears the inscription of Pit's crime."

When asked for comment on the existence of a Factor 5-developed installment in the Kid Icarus franchise, Nintendo gave us the expected "no comment on rumors" statement.

Não dizem que sim oficialmente... mas não nos andariam a mostrar coisas para nada. Parece-me bem encaminhado e há aqui muito potencial para explorar...

Agora uma questão: a Factor 5 está a fazer mais do que este jogo para a Wii, certo? É que este parece estar em (muito) early stage...

Se estiverem a fazer este... é de longe o principal (o artwork é de inícios de 2008 no entanto, o que seria preliminar), mas não sei qual o nucleo de trabalho deles, é possivel que tenham jogos de Wiiware em produção, por exemplo.

É que convinha (para nós e para eles) lançarem alguma coisa pelo menos em 2009...
 
Aqui fica mais uma concept artwork que descobri via Kotaku. Estou com muita curiosidade por ver o que daqui irá sair, sobretudo porque nunca joguei nenhum Kid Icarus (ainda tenho de comprar o 1º para a VC). Pelo que tenho lido, o original era um pouco uma mistura entre Metroid e Zelda, o que me parece uma excelente combinação. Quem já o jogou pode confirmar?

olha com este jogo aqui e que eles podiam pensar em faze-lo na primeira pessoa em vez de estarem a mexer na formula do zelda. e sendo a factor 5 a possivel produtora do jogo pennso que nao o vai deixar ficar mal.
 
Bem para mim era um jogo vindo do céu ;D hehehe quer dizer se souberem fazer uma boa versão Wii, tal como já tive oportunidade de dizer aqui no fórum eu tive a minha primeira NES em 1988 porque os meus pais estavam na Suiça e muito antes de chegarem a Portugal consolas e o Kid Icarus é um dos marcos da NES, sempre gostei imenso do jogo e realmente iria gostar de ver uma versão recente deste jogo.
