THQ has announced a standalone Dawn of War II expansion called Chaos Rising.
Due spring 2010, the add-on introduces the Chaos Space Marines, as the Blood Ravens tackle this demented, old and personal foe head-on.

Relic's doing the honours, according to THQ's website, and allowing Blood Raven squads to be imported from the original game for the new 20-mission campaign.
The level cap, therefore, has been boosted 30, and there will be lots more loot to collect. Blood Ravens can even equip Chaos-tainted wargear, although doing so apparently has "dreadful consequences".

Similarly, multiplayer is getting a lift, as Relic offers the Chaos Space Marines as a playable faction. New units are also arriving for the existing Ork, Eldar, Tyranid and Space Marines sides, and there will be extra maps to explore. -eurogamer

WP: Is this going to be a stand-alone expansion, then?

JL: Yes, so the multiplayer communities will be the same. It's actually the same build, but which game you buy determines what you have access to, so if you own Chaos Rising, you get the Chaos Rising campaign and you get to play with Chaos online. If you own the original, you get to play with the original four races online and you get to play that original campaign.

WP: If you own both, does it just merge together?

JL: That's right.

"We had the opportunity to play through a handful of head-to-head skirmishes and some free-for-all matches as well, and found Chaos to be a faction that seems to benefit from leapfrogging from expansion to expansion, capturing a key strategic point and fortifying it as soon as possible. Although the faction has powerful military units, its basis of support lies with heretic units--these are now used to build supporting shrine structures (best placed near control points), and can then be used to worship at these shrines. Depending on which commander you've chosen, worshipping at a shrine will produce different effects--chaos lord shrines will briefly summon some bloodletter melee daemons that will disappear after a short period; plague champion shrines will heal nearby allies; and chaos sorcerer shrines will cause nearby units to infiltrate and can also fire energy bolts like a turret."

Ef'yeah!

Chaos Rising has gone Gold!

Stay tuned!

Dawn of War II Leaderboard Reset

Many fans have been asking and we’re happy to announce that the Dawn of War II Multiplayer Learderboards will be reset with the release of Chaos Rising on March 11.

The reset will affect all Dawn of War II Leaderboard stats including TrueSkill and Faction Rank*

*Faction Rank is not reset for players who play a Ranked Multiplayer game between October 14, 2009 and March 11, 2010.

Leaderboard Decay
In addition to the reset, Leaderboard stats will decay for inactive players. If players have not played a Ranked Multiplayer game of Dawn of War II over a 60 day period all their Leaderboard stats will be reset except for Faction Rank.

The Leaderboard Reset and Decay does not affect The Last Stand Leaderboards.

Best of luck to everyone on the race to the top of the leaderboards, and if you care about your Faction Rank go play some Dawn of War II!

Foca apenas o singleplayer:

It’s games like this that make Relic one of the best PC developers operating today. When I reviewed the outstanding Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, my chief criticism of the campaign was the excessive repetition of simple “fight from point A to point B, then fight a boss” missions. Chaos Rising, the first stand-alone expansion, addresses that issue and then some, building on the strengths of the first game (including post-release enhancements like the addictive Last Stand survival co-op mode) with crack mission design and a new over-the-top evil faction.
