It's official - Nokia unveiled their new flagship, the Nokia N8. With 12MP camera and 720p video recording, the latest handset from the Finnish company is on track to becoming the new imaging champ in the mobile phone world.
The 28mm wide angle camera on the Nokia N8 is equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and a xenon flash. Nokia says that the image sensor "rivals those found in compact digital cameras". The camera can also capture 720p HD video at 25 frames per second and offers built-in video editing tools.

The Nokia N8 also features two different TV-out interfaces - the standard 3.5mm audio jack and a mini-HDMI port (a first for the GSM world). The Nokia N8 also features Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound over the HDMI link.
The Nokia N8 offers up to 3 hours and 20 minutes of video capture or 7 hours of video playback (6 over HDMI) thanks to the 1200mAh battery. The talk time is impressive too - 12 hours, and the battery will last for 50 hours of music playback.

There's plenty of storage to store the videos - the Nokia N8 has 16GB of built-in memory and supports microSD cards up to 32GB. As for viewing things on the phones itself, the N8 comes with a 3.5" capacitive touchscreen with 16:9 aspect ratio with nHD resolution (360 x 640 pixels).
The Nokia N8 is connectivity champ - it is a true globetrotter with quad-band GSM/EDGE and five-band 3G. Yep, five bands - 850/900/1700/1900/2100. It has Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS with A-GPS (plus other positioning methods), microUSB with USB On-the-go and a built-in FM transmitter. Having mentioned GPS, the N8 will of course come with Ovi Maps for free voice-guided navigation.

The N8 is the first device that runs Symbian^3 and it also has support for the Qt cross-platform apps and UI framework that should allow development of apps that run on Symbian and MeeGo. It has multiple homescreens and is proficient in social networking. It also offers improved application and graphics performance.

Nokia N8 gets previewed, slammed

Russian mobile guru Eldar Murtazin has struck again, this time getting his hands on the Nokia N8, the first Symbian^3 smartphone. Although a brief preview as opposed to one of his legendary unending reviews, it does manage to give us a pretty good idea of what we’re in store for when it launches. Overall the device seems fairly well built and feels good in the hands, although dust did manage to find its way underneath the glass covered multitouch display. The camera, although 12 megapixels and capable of shooting videos at 720p, is said to produce results no better than any of Nokia’s other devices. Sadly the more content your phone has the less responsive the camera gets. The HDMI-out port, a much welcomed features, is somewhat kneecaped thanks to its requiring a Mini HDMI cable. As for the Symbian^3 OS, Murtazin is not a fan saying its nothing more than a few cosmetic changes that ultimately offers little new in terms of functionality. So, what’s the final word? Apparently the device, which is going to be Nokia’s next flagship smartphone, led Murtazin to ultimately concluded that Nokia is trying very hard to sabotage itself and destroy its brand. Ouch.

WM é que é um fail total. teve sucesso porque não havia alternativas... e o mobile 7 ainda não chegou ao teste de fogo no mercado, por isso, WM nem joga ainda... quanto ao symbian, há muita boa gente que felizmente discorda de ti, e tal como referi, este é um SO de transição. espera-se que o symbian^4 esteja pronto no segundo semestre deste ano com terminais no início de 2011, pelo que este tem ainda tempo de vida suficiente:


o fail é só porque esperam algo que não é, mas enfim... dizer mal dá mais page views

• The N97 was a success for Nokia in terms of sales and the margins (money collected) on the device, but "it has been a tremendous disappointment in terms of the experience quality for the consumers".
• This was not anticipated by Nokia. Nokia has been able to repair the situtaion through the release of version 20 and 21 of the N97 firmware. Nokia acknowledge that it "has been an unbelievable cycle of things for us, that has taken far too long to repair and mitigate". Moreover they say, with regards to Symbian^1 / Symbian^1 family hardware platform, that "we stretched for too long, something which should not have been stretched".
• Nokia have learnt from the experience. The lessons learnt have been applied to both Symbian^3 generally and individual Symbian^3 products. The timescales for changes of this type are between major point releases of the platform (i.e. not between different devices within a point release). Nokia say, "we have taken the learnings and when Symbian^3 comes out you can rest assured it will be perfect".

nada de novo... agora windows mobile para mim continua fora até poder realmente experimentar o 7.
