This is the only proper way to install x2 CPU's.....
1 - Install the amd drivers (amdcpu.exe) http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html
2 - install the hotfix.... (WindowsXP-KB896256-v3-x86-ENU.exe)

3 - Merge registry file (dcinstall.reg)
4 - Make sure your BOOT.ini has this command in it, /usepmtimer to check, right click on My Computer go to properties, click on the ADVANCE tab, then under startup and recovery click on settings, then click on EDIT....make sure your boot.ini looks like this
dcinstall reg file:
Open a txt file with notepad.. add below content and rename it to .reg and execute it.
Reboot afterwards.....
