343 Industries has published a whopping great big Halo: The Master Chief Collection Q&A on Waypoint. The included information covers some stuff we already know, but a few new bits and bobs too.
First and foremost, 343 says that campaign co-op is "supported across all four titles, both online and split-screen. In addition, we will be changing to a horizontal view for the split-screen multiplayer for Halo 2: Anniversary." Here’s the breakdown of each game’s co-op options:
Halo: CE Anniversary - 2 players max, split-screen or online
Halo 2: Anniversary - 2 players max, split-screen or online
Halo 3 - 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen
Halo 4 - 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen
Beyond that, Halo 2 Anniversary's multiplayer and campaign will allow players to take advantage of the original Halo 2 and 3 button combos, including the insta-kill BXR. However, button combos and glitches may not carry over to Halo 2’s remastered multiplayer maps, as they run on a new engine. "Rest assured, we are working very hard to match the original experience as closely as possible on this engine,” says 343.
Next up is Forge. Responding to a question about whether the editor will be a single, unified experience across all maps, 343 said, “We’ll be able to share more about Forge specifics in the coming months. For now, we can confirm that Halo 3, Halo 4, and the six re-mastered Halo 2 Anniversary maps will be Forgeable.”
Also mentioned was spectator mode. According to 343, The Master Chief Collection doesn't have one. "By leveraging the Xbox One platform we're able to take advantage of Twitch functionality to provide a spectator experience that will allow online players to stream their matches, speedruns, Forge sessions and more," the studio explained.
"However, there is not a dedicated in-game specific spectator mode. While we understand the importance and versatility of a dedicated spectating system, we're confident that Twitch functionality will make it easy for anyone to share gameplay at any time while playing The Master Chief Collection."
