Qual o objectivo do mail?

Vivaldi 1.12 – Giving you the browser you want

We at Vivaldi want to change the way you live online. Our strong focus on community and respect for unique user needs drive us in our pursuit to give you more.

Download Vivaldi

This is what Vivaldi 1.12 is all about. We have just implemented three brand-new features many of you have been asking us for – instant access to Image Properties, advanced Download Info and an option for toning down saturation for websites’ theme colors.

We know you’re all waiting for bigger features, such as Sync and Mail, and we do share your sentiment. Let me assure you that we are working hard on giving you these features, as well as other important functionality. In the meanwhile, we also keep sight of other prominent features that you’ve been asking us to implement.

Get the full picture with built-in Image Properties
Instant access to Image Properties has been one of our most requested features. We’ve added it to Vivaldi 1.12, which means you can drop an extension or two and find out all the information you need about an image right in the browser. This is part of the Vivaldi philosophy – adding built-in functionality to boost performance and make browsing smarter.

Right-clicking on the image and selecting Image Properties from the drop-down menu reveals all the information available based on the image meta data, such as:

  • File name and URL
  • The model of the camera that took the image
  • Depth of field and sensitivity of the image sensor (ISO)
  • Exposure and focal length
  • Histogram, white balance and color space
  • Dimensions and size
  • Time and date when the photo was taken
  • Software used to process the image
We hope that people who work with images – photographers, designers, bloggers and other creators – will appreciate this feature.

Everything you wanted to know about your downloads
With this release, we’ve added some big improvements to the Downloads Panel. First, we’ve added a whole new dimension to it, displaying information about the name of the file, download speed, download URL, destination folder, and date and time. We’ve also added the ability to sort Downloads by type – in addition to name, size, date added and date finished, as well as by address.

1.12_downloads_en_US.jpg

Accent color too bright? No problem.
Another new feature that we’ve added following up on your requests is the ability to control saturation for websites’ theme colors. While we were in the middle of our development cycle, we received a request about this through our Twitter account. @Runewake2 mentioned that YouTube’s latest logo update resulted in a rather aggressive accent color in Vivaldi, and our design team immediately took the case. The solution was already in the Snapshot the next day – a slider in the Settings that allows you to adjust the saturation level of accent colors.

Building a browser together
We are immensely grateful and proud to have such a dedicated community of users and volunteers who help us build Vivaldi together. Keep up the great work – we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for you.

Vivaldi 1.13 adds Window Panel, improves Downloads and brings under-the-hood enhancements

The new version of Vivaldi has arrived, offering a wealth of features for every user. Read on for the details on our latest release!
1.13-hero-image_720.jpg

When we started building Vivaldi, we wanted to do it on our terms and for our users. Vivaldi isn’t like any other browser. It is nothing short of a powerful tool that gives you more control with every release.

Download Vivaldi

Our endless customization options and a wealth of features have something for every user. Vivaldi 1.13 is ready – this time with superior tab management. The Window Panel makes a debut in our latest version, together with improved downloads and under-the-hood work.

Window Panel makes managing your tabs a breeze
We know that you love tabs, so we are always adding new ways of working with them. If you are a heavy tab user, the Window Panel comes in as a very useful feature. The Window Panel opens to the side of the browser which gives you a “tree-style” view of tabs. You can conveniently navigate them via your keyboard, group them into Tab Stacks and more. In addition to this, the list shows all tabs without compacting their size. Searching or sorting to track down a tab is easier than ever before.

window-panel.jpg

Manage your tabs effortlessly and effectively by doing the following:

  • Drag tabs to change their order.
  • Group tabs by topic to save space.
  • Tile Tab Stacks to compare several web pages side by side.
  • Hibernate unused tabs or Tab Stacks for better performance.
  • Pin tabs to ensure they always stay open.
  • Mute sound in specific tabs.
  • Currently, the Window Panel works per window, but we have plans to add more functionality to suit your needs. We hope that this new feature will complement the way you use Vivaldi and we look forward to your feedback to make it even better.

More to the downloads
We are always trying to improve every feature in Vivaldi. In version 1.13 we turned our attention to the Downloads Panel with the following improvements:
  • Warning dialog when closing the browser before a download is complete.
  • Ability to pause and resume downloads.
  • Download speed displayed in the download progress bar.
download-panel.jpg

Under-the-hood improvements
Our latest version also focuses on performance improvements. We have worked on the rewrite of the window handling code in this update. These under-the-hood enhancements are a maintenance necessity allowing us to architect the features better. At the same time, we hope this will provide performance benefits, especially on older, slower hardware.

Building an “all-rounder” browser
Vivaldi 1.13 arrives just around Thanksgiving, and we take this opportunity to thank you – our users and our incredible community – once again. We have come a long way riding on a simple philosophy of building an “individual” browser. We will continue to add more built-in functionality with a plethora of customization options that make you more efficient online. While we are working hard on the much-anticipated feature Sync and other differentiating features, we aim to provide a seamless and fulfilling browsing experience to each and every one of you.

Enjoy your browsing with our new version and let us know your thoughts.

If there’s a particular feature you’d like to see implemented in one of our next versions, please join the conversation on our forums.

For a detailed overview, please take a look at the changelog below.

two-point-oh-hero-d.jpg

The vision of Vivaldi is simple – you should be in control of how your browser looks, feels and works. It should adapt to your style, have the features you need and be built with values you can stand by.

Vivaldi 2.0 is a big step forward in achieving that vision. Since our first version, we have made over 1,500 improvements that have been possible only because of working closely with you all, at every step.

What’s new in Vivaldi 2.0?
Your browser is a portal to the way you live, learn, work and play. This new version of Vivaldi is as flexible as it is robust and reflects how you use the Web today.

Vivaldi 2.0 is a big milestone! Read on as we highlight not only what’s new in this version, but many of the key features that work together to give you a better browsing experience.

welcome-to-vivaldi.jpg

A fresh look
With this update you’ll notice an overall refresh to the browser’s interface. More than just a facelift, we’ve brought in a smoother onboarding experience, as well as refreshed theme options and a host of new background image options to get you started.

We’ve always known that a bare bones browser cannot accommodate everyone’s needs. That’s why we give you the power to tailor the browser to you, your interests, passions and personality. The strength of Vivaldi is in its features and customizability. This is reflected in the Settings, where you can not only change the browser’s look but the layout of its elements, such as:

  • Position the tab bar vertically and display the address bar at the bottom (or not at all).
  • Adjust default zoom levels and view clutter-free web pages using Reader View.
  • Toggle adaptive Themes that change color in tune with the website being viewed.
  • Schedule Themes to change throughout the day.
  • Customize Speed Dials, Start Page backgrounds and Window Background Images.

Customization in Vivaldi

12-vivaldi-sync.jpg

Vivaldi Sync
You can now access your data across computers seamlessly and securely using your Vivaldi account. You can choose which data to sync, including your Bookmarks and Speed Dials, saved passwords and autofill information, History (with only typed Urls), extensions and, uniquely, Notes.

We’ve always taken data security extremely seriously. And we’ve long believed that everything you store in your browser belongs to you — which is why we’ll never sell your data, or willingly compromise your privacy. All synced data, including your passwords, is protected using end-to-end encryption and never shared in the clear with Vivaldi. We’ve worked extensively on the code from scratch and do not use any third-party servers.

Activate Vivaldi Sync in Settings or by clicking on the cloud icon in the browser’s Status Bar. We have big plans for Sync so expect regular upgrades in the coming months!

Powerful Tab Management
There are multiple ways you can manage and access your tabs, many of which are unique to Vivaldi — including grouping them into Tab Stacks, searching for an open tab using Quick Commands and renaming your Tab Stacks . Of course, you can also pin, drag, hibernate and mute tabs as needed, but we’ve added even more options in our latest version.

Here are some exciting additions:

  • Resizable Tab Tiling: Tab Tiling fans, this one’s for you. Viewing tabs in a split-screen just got better. When viewing tabs in a tiled view, adjust the size by simply dragging a tile’s border (a popular user-request!). What’s more, the adjusted layout remains the same after restarts and loading of saved sessions. Very handy while browsing several sites plus it gives you screen estate, a lot more.
  • A new way to find open tabs: We’ve added a list-style view to the ever-popular Tab Cycler. Viewing and finding a list of tabs, and even changing their order will definitely save you some scrolling time. Enable the Tab Cycler under Settings → Tabs→ Tab Features→ Tab Cycling and select “Display Tab Cycler as list” to give it a try.

Smarter browsing
We always strive to improve your workflow. An expandable dashboard (the Panel) gives you easy access to your go-to tools such as Bookmarks, Downloads, Notes, History, Window Panel and Web Panels. This area of the interface allows for easy multi-tasking or keeping the right tools at hand.

Web Panels are a great way to browse your favorite sites alongside your main window, saving you from the fuss of switching back-and-forth between tabs. They can be rearranged, have custom widths and even be accessed individually via custom Keyboard Shortcuts or Mouse Gestures of your choosing.

It’s no surprise that Web Panels have been a fan favorite since they appeared in the first version of Vivaldi. And with our latest upgrade, checking your messaging apps, social feeds and news sites is a breeze with these new additions:

  • Floating Web Panels: Need more room for your work? All it takes is to float the Web Panels over the page smoothly, rather than resizing the main window. Floating Web Panels can be activated through Tools → Settings → Panel → Panel Options. In addition, you can enable “Auto-close Floating panel”. With this switched on, the panel will close itself as you move your mouse away from the panel area.
  • Web Panel Suggestions: Clicking the “+” to add a new Web Panel now gives you suggestions based on the sites that you visit the most. We hope this gets people exploring and thinking about how Web Panels can improve their browser experience.

Raise your productivity bar
Using Vivaldi’s Panels aren’t the only way to improve your productivity in the browser. A number of built-in tools let you rely less on extensions and focus on the job at hand.

  • Notes let you annotate websites or jot down ideas while you browse.
  • Capture allows you to take screenshots of full web pages or a selection of the screen.
  • Image Properties takes you on a dive deep into photos you find online, revealing image metadata.
  • History gives an overview of your browsing habits and makes it easier to find previously visited sites.

Effortless navigation
Your browser’s job is to get you where you want to go. But getting there faster isn’t always about your connection speed – it’s also about how you control your browser. Vivaldi includes a number of choices in how you interact with the browser:

  • Keyboard Shortcuts can be customized to get work done at a lightning speed.
  • Mouse Gestures let you do almost anything in the browser with the flick of a wrist.

Privacy is paramount
Vivaldi has always honored its users’ rights to data privacy and protection. There is no need to collect your personal information. We don’t track you. Period.

We encourage users to explore privacy-conscious options and educate themselves on the basics of web browser security. This year we integrated DuckDuckGo as our default Private Search, and added Qwant to the list of suggested search engines (which includes StartPage as well). All of these are great tools for taking back your privacy. We’re continuing to explore ways to protect Vivaldi users and this will always be a top priority.

Under the hood
We’ve been continually working on “under the hood” aspects of Vivaldi to ensure that browser features aren’t stunted by structural limitations or get embroiled in technical complexities. We’ve made giant improvements to our code over the last few months resulting in even better support for web standards. All for you to browse better.

Spread the word, share Vivaldi
Give Vivaldi 2.0 a whirl and spread the word! If you’re enjoying the browser and want to help us grow, send the video below (or simply a link to https://vivaldi.com) to a friend you think would love it too.

Sharing on social? Include the hashtags #SwitchToVivaldi #YourBrowserMatters. We’ll keep an eye out and be in touch with some special treats for random winners!

We hope you enjoy this latest update! We’d like to give a special shout out to all of our volunteer testers, moderators, translators and ambassadors. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Com o Sync a funcionar acredito que tenha mais adeptos. As brincadeiras com as tabs e o painel à esquerda são muito úteis. Não me vejo a utilizar outra coisa.
