The New Intel Gallium3D OpenGL Driver Performance Is In Great Shape For Mesa 19.1
Benchmarks from a Skylake NUC with Intel Iris Pro 580 graphics just wrapped up for looking at the performance of the Intel Gallium3D driver against its existing open-source "i965" Mesa OpenGL driver.

but for Broadwell graphics and newer can be activated via the MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=iris environment variable. Intel developers are hoping by the end of 2019 that this Gallium3D driver will be mature enough to enable by default for Broadwell and newer;

he open-source NVIDIA "Nouveau" drivers will remain the default for NVIDIA graphics on new Ubuntu installations, but this change is positioning the mainline and legacy NVIDIA proprietary drivers onto the Ubuntu ISO so that they can be easily obtained locally post-install. The main driver here is allowing users to enable the NVIDIA proprietary graphics on Ubuntu even if you don't have an Internet connection. NVIDIA has already okay'ed the distribution of their driver packages with the Ubuntu ISO.

On the downside, adding the NVIDIA 390 and 418 drivers to the ISO pool has inflated the size of Ubuntu Eoan by 114MB. The overall Ubuntu x86_64 ISO size is now up to around 2.1GB.

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is out and it comes with same-day Linux support
As expected from Feral Interactive, this is another Linux port using the Vulkan API. So you will need at a minimum for NVIDIA driver 418.56 and for AMD Mesa 19.0.1. Currently, they're not supporting Intel GPUs. As usual, they're supporting it on Ubuntu only. They said that other modern drivers and distributions should work fine but they're not officially supported.

Felizmente ainda existe o Manjaro.

For those still fond of the GNOME 2 desktop environment, the MATE Desktop Environment that's been living on as a continuation fork of GNOME2 is out with its version 1.24 update.

MATE 1.24 comes after about a year of work by the limited crew involved, but does come with some notable changes. MATE 1.24 being adding Wayland support to some components like Eye of GNOME and MATE Panel, the Marco window manager has restored a bunch of "nostalgic" window decorations, the System Monitor now supports polling NVMe drives, HiDPI improvements, Pluma file manager plug-ins have migrated to Python 3, there is a new MATE Disk Image Mounter utility, and a wide variety of other work.

We are pleased to announce the release of Simplicity Linux 20.4. This time there are four versions, all based on the excellent Buster Dog.

- Mini
First we have Mini, which uses LXDE and Openbox and is running the 5.6.4 XanMod Kernel. As usual with Mini, there isn’t a lot of software preinstalled, instead it uses web based apps which run as a Chrome instance. We have preinstalled Google Docs, Taiga.io Project Management software, Spotify, Mega, Gmail and Facebook Messenger.

- Deskotp
For those looking for something with locally based applications, we have Desktop which also uses the 5.6.4 XanMod Kernel. Unlike Mini, it uses Cinnamon as it’s desktop. It comes preinstalled with Pidgin, LibreOffice, GIMP, Chrome, Thunderbird, Audacity, Spotify and MPV.

- Gaming Edition
It should still be classed as experimental, but we’re planning on making it a stable release for 20.7. Simplicity 20.4 Gaming Edition uses the Debian Backports 5.4.0 Kernel for stability, and comes with Brave Browser, OBS, Discord, Blacknut Cloud Gaming, Vortex Cloud Gaming, Wine, Steam, and Spotify as full local applications.

- X Edition
We tried a few different ideas for X, including a hybrid of Gaming Edition and Mini which used minimal local applications and almost everything ran through cloud clients or Chrome Shortcuts. And it’s something we may revisit. Instead we settled on a more fully featured Mini using LXDE and Openbox. It runs the 5.6.6 XanMod Kernel, and comes with Chrome Shortcuts for Gmail, Zoho Docs, Mega, Plan, Buffer, Calendly, Canva, Speechnotes, Evernote, Spotify and Taiga.io Project Management. The idea behind it was that with everyone being stuck at home, some might like the chance to revamp some old hardware for office use.

https://www.linuxadictos.com/windows-la-mejor-distribucion-linux-del-2020-gracias-a-wsl-2.html

Saludos.
