AMD did also verify that the "new" core is 193mm2 in die size. This is the same size as specified on the original 1MB L2 Athlon 64 cores as noted here back in September of this year.

AMD needs a lower cost CPU on the market if they intend to sell large volumes
We find it sort of odd that AMD would sell a crippled A64 3200+ to the public after all the hard work that has been put into marketing the brand and features. If AMD did in fact have a large volume of A64 3200+ CPUs that failed to pass muster with 1MB of L2 cache, but with at least 512KB of it operational, what would they do with them?

ainda houve uma coisa que n percebi os newcastles n eram "* Newcastle 939-pin – 512KB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, Cool’n’Quiet technology, made at 0.13 micron SOI nodes." ou seja... como o tafinho disse "a Socket 939 vai durar enquanto houver athlonFX 64 ou dual channel."
ou seja n suportavam dual channel? ....e mais no anando falam em "the Athlon64 3000+ being advertised for mainstream prices is a Socket 754 running at 2.0GHz with 512kb cache."
ai ai...que confusão
