Intel compiler gives AMD Athlon64 a boost

Intel é amiga não é ?! :D

According to the magazine's own tests, a new Intel V8 compiler can give a boost to the performance of applications running on Intel platforms by between 5 and 10 per cent.

The chipmaker may be miffed to learn, however, that its compiler can help boost the same apps by a similar margin on rival AMD's Athlon64 platform, when suitably tweaked.

According to our correspondent, the compiler switch -QxN produces x86 code which runs only on P4 CPUs, not on AMD CPUs. However, the boffins at c't used the -QxN to produce code, patched out the CPU type inquiry and so managed to get the code to run on the Athlon64.

As a result the chip notched up a record-breaking Spec score.

According to the tests, under Windows, the P4 3200 gets a SPECint2000base value of 1286 while the Athlon64 3400+ scores 1404. Although, in SPECfp2000base, the P4 3200 scores 1257, against the Athlon64 3400+'s score of 1227.

Como é que sabes que deu mais boost
ao A64 do que ao P4 ?


Então o P4 3200 é mais rápido que um
A64 3400+ em FPU?

E é, se tem 1MB é!

3000+ Desktop = 2000Mhz 512k cache.

3000+ Mobile = 1800Mhz 1MB cache.

À ppl lá fora a comprar os 3k+ mobile, para por em desktop's, pk aparentemente fazem os mesmos clocks, e sempre tem 1MB :)
 
Oi eu tb vou comprar 1 desses, mas o meu é o 3200+, vou dar 1890€, é 1 makina e acho q ta a um bom preço!
E já agora o q é q voces acham em relação aos A64 e Centrinos?

Estive para fazer isso, já que o Fintas-XP me tinha dado um link de uma loja la fora que vendia os Mobile inbox!

Mas que se lixe! :)
 
Eu tenho um notebook centrino (+-)
pq me falta a minipci Wireless da Intel
e acho o Pentium-M um cpu muito bom
e poupadinho.

Mas entre o centrino e um A64 acho que
preferia o A64. Eles devem ser
equivalentes clock por clock (ainda não
me dei ao trabalho de ver) mas o A64
tem os 64bits que ainda podem vir a dar
jeito para alguma coisa. :P
