Athlon II X4 620

It has a other code then the one listed above:

ADX620WFK42G1
CADAC AD 0932EPDW

The newest Phenom i ever had was a 0922 (95 watt 945)

That new Phenom was a:

HDX945WFK4DG1
CACYC AC 0922MPMW

I also have a 955:
HDZ955FBK4DG1
CACYC AC 0915FPMW

So there is a chance i really have a Propus version here.

AMD Introduces Industry's First Sub-$100 Quad-Core Processor

AMD Introduces Industry's First Sub-$100 Quad-Core Processor
As part of the new desktop platform designed for mainstream consumers, AMD today announced the first ever quad-core processor for less than $100 Suggested System Builder Price (SSBP). By balancing the power of new AMD Athlon II X4 quad-core processors and the AMD 785G chipset featuring ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics, AMD delivers smooth HD visuals and the foundation for a great Windows 7 experience.

When matched against similarly priced competitive processors, the AMD Athlon II X4 620 processor delivers superior multitasking performance allowing mainstream users to do more in less time, for less money. The AMD Mainstream Desktop Platform leverages AMD software to help enhance the overall experience. ATI Stream technology, for example, enables hardware acceleration that can speed HD video conversion-time so content can be ready faster for use on-the-go.

Combining the efficiency of 45nm processors and this platform’s built-in power management technologies for a cool and quiet PC, an AMD Athlon II processor-based platform can serve-up an amazing Blu-ray movie experience using less energy than a standard 75 watt light bulb. This platform also can improve business users’ experience as part of AMD Business Class technology. With this second generation commercial platform, AMD industry partners can offer a variety of form factors with superior value, exceptional energy efficiency, advanced visual productivity. This platform also has support for essential manageability, security and virtualization features that today’s businesses demand.

“Our goal is to deliver a great computing experience and maximize value for our customers,” said John Cook, vice president of marketing, global PC business, HP. “The new AMD quad-core processors offer the right balance between excellent performance and price, and allow HP to continue to be a best-in-class provider of consumer technology.”

“Designed with customer needs in mind, Windows 7 simplifies and improves the computing experience,” said Mike Ybarra, general manager of Windows Product Management at Microsoft Corp. “The introduction of the new AMD Mainstream Desktop Platform coupled with Windows 7, allows end users to enjoy their digital entertainment with a faster, higher performing experience at an attractive price point.”

Athlon II X4 640 to launch on the 16th

Athlon II X4 640 to launch on the 16th

3GHz quad-core without L3 cache

After
a three quarter delay, AMD launched L3 cacheless Deneb quad-cores, something that company codenamed Propus.

We don’t know the right reason why the CPU got delayed for such a long time and we hope that this is not merely a Deneb core with disabled cache. If this is a native cacheless CPU you should not be able to enable L3 cache and turn a Propus (Athlon II X4) into a Deneb (Phenom II X4).

The official brand is Athlon II X4 640 and this baby will run at 3.0GHz and will only have 4x512KB L2 cache, and no L3. There is still a chance that some of these CPUs will actually be Denebs and that some hack might let you enable the hidden L3 cache. We will look into this one.

TDP is the usual 95W which is the same as what Deneb has. In comparison with usual Deneb we believe that performance difference won’t be big either.

AMD to Align Release of New Triple-Core Athlon II Chips with Windows 7 Launch.

Advanced Micro Devices plans to release its first AMD Athlon II X3 microprocessors with three cores on the day of Microsoft Windows 7 operating system launch, on October 22, 2009, sources with knowledge of the matter revealed. The new chips will be based on the code-named Rana core and will be aimed at entry-level personal computers and those customers, who want to have something more than a dual-core chip.
The first triple-core Athlon II X3 processors will be models 425 and 435, which will function at 2.70GHz and 2.80GHz, respectively. The central processing units will feature 1.5MB of cache (512KB per core), will have thermal design power of 95W and will be compatible with AM2+ and AM3+ infrastructure. AMD will also energy-efficient triple-core microprocessors – models 400e and 405e – with thermal design power of 45W.
Considering the fact that Athlon II X3 chips do not work on high frequencies, they will hardly be able to offer truly high performance in contemporary demanding software. AMD is likely to position the chip for entry-level systems that are occasionally used for video games of multimedia. Since Windows 7 and DirectX 11 application programming interface will take more advantage of multi-core chips, triple-core Athlon II X3 processors from AMD may offer something more than entry-level dual-core offerings.
In addition to triple-core chips, AMD will also broaden the lineup of its low-power (45W) desktop offerings with Athlon II X2 235e and 240e as well as Athlon II X4 600e and 605e central processing units.
AMD did not comment on the news-story.

Athlon II 635 expected in Q4 2.9GHz clock speed

Athlon II X4 620 clocked at 2.8GHz and priced below $100 got a lot of attention and we are quite sure that Athlon II 635 might also become a popular one.

The spec is not that exciting as we are talking about a 100MHz clock boost, Athlon II 635 works at 2.9GHz and it has the same TDP of 95W and 4xt512KB L2 cache and no L3.

This one should be based on Propus L3 cacheless core. The latest update even shows Athlon II 640, a 3GHz CPU at same TDP but this one won’t launch until Q2 2010, the time when they launch a new core revision.
