Select ASUS Z77/H77 Motherboards Get Thunderbolt Support
ASUS has plans to give several of its Z77 and H77 chipsets-based motherboards support for Thunderbolt I/O by means of an optional add-on card. Several of currently-launched ASUS 7-series chipset motherboards feature a header marked "TB_HEADER", which lets the motherboard interface with the Thunderbolt I/O add-on card. This header most likely transmits the motherboard's DisplayPort link (from the Flexible Display Interface) to the Thunderbolt I/O card. The card itself is likely based on Intel's 2-channel "Cactus Ridge" Thunderbolt controller, and connects to the system bus over PCI-Express 2.0 x4. ASUS motherboards supporting the optional Thunderbolt add-on card with the TB_HEADER include Maximus V Gene, P8Z77-V Deluxe, P8Z77-V Pro, P8Z77-V, Sabertooth Z77, P8H77-V, and P8H77-M Pro. The Thunderbolt I/O card should be available starting April 27.

Interessante. Aparentemente será lançado uma placa thunderbolt PCI-e 4x e com um cabo a ligar ao header para passar o sinal displayport.

É uma abordagem alternativa, que permite poupar o custo de espetar o controlador na board e encarecer demasiado.

Nem reparei nisso quando montei a minha Asus P8H77-M Pro ainda bem então que a loja só tinha a Pro em vez da normal.

Asus shows off flagship P8Z77-V Premium

Asus shows off a new flagship for Ivy Bridge with lots of features, including 4-way SLI / Crossfire and built-in support for Intel Thunderbolt.

Anyone planning to upgrade to Ivy Bridge faces a tough choice. There are many motherboards to choose from, from older models with chipsets 6-series, many of which work with Intel's latest processors, to updated versions of the 7 Series is specifically adapted for the generation of 22 nanometer.
Asus pull their weight for another motherboard based on Intel Z77. Coming P8Z77-V Premium is the flagship model series, and contains many features for performance hunters and overclockers.
First of all shows four PCI Express 3.0 full-length (16 data channels) for 4-way SLI / Crossfire. Asus adds dual Gigabit LAN (RJ45) with Intel chipsets and wireless 802.11n "dual band" for up to 300 Mbps. Addition, there is an accompanying SSD of unknown capacity hybrid storage via Intel SRT and six ports SATA 6.0 Gbps.

The upcoming motherboard is one of the first models with built-in support for high-speed interface Intel Thunderbolt, which will enable transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps.Asus P8Z77-V Premium will be available in stores in late May. Some prices are not yet known.

Sem ser asus ha mais duas, uma MSI e outra Intel, mas ambas nem sequer têm paginas oficiais, apesar de ja tarem listadas em lojas da net com preços...
De referir o preço dessa premium da asus é so rir, à volta dos €400!!!! ahaha devem tar a sonhar so pode... nem a da intel é tao cara, à volta dos €275... enfim a asus as vezes....

E nao percebo outra coisa, se isto faz encarecer tantos as mobos, pq raio o TB nos portateis da Apple, nao os fez encarecer... enfim, politcas... de burrice...
É o q eu digo, os fabricantes de hardware andam a dormir à sombra da bananeira, isto ja podia tar no mercado em força...

Parece ser um monstro de motherboard

Já a Maximus V Gene tem o tal header, mas um pormenor que o ultimo slot pci-e é 4x, portanto 100% apto a receber thunderbolt via placa de expansão.

Tens duas opções, ja com TB, bem mais baratas e ainda a alternativa de algumas mobos recentes (Z77) da Asus darem pra por um addon para por o TB a bulir nessas mobos...

em princípio sim vou comprar essa parece me um motherboard boa e traz o ssd de 32 gb mas quais são as outras duas? a da intel e a da msi? sempre devem ser mais baratas acho eu eu também estava virado entre a sabertooth z77 e a p8z77 v deluxe lá para 15 de junho vou mandar construir um pc...daí as minhas dúvidas :/

A First Look at Thunderbolt on Windows with MSI's Z77A-GD80

Co-developed by Apple and Intel, Thunderbolt is a tunnel that carries both PCIe and DisplayPort traffic to the tune of 20Gbps per channel (10Gbps up and down). In the past, whenever you wanted to add a PCIe device (LAN, audio, high-speed storage, etc...) you needed to physically install that device in your system either via an ExpressCard slot on a notebook or via a PCIe slot on your desktop. Thunderbolt acts as a decoupler for PCIe devices, allowing you to put controllers that would traditionally lie inside your system outside of it, or even inside another device like a display. That's where the DisplayPort support comes in.

Já começam a aparecer (embora só saia para o próximo mês) não deve faltar muito também para Asus e companhia por cá fora as deles.

Faz como te digo, o TB ainda nem ta maduro, compra uma Asus q de pra fazer o upgrade mais tarde do TB, compras um bom ssd e ainda poupas uns valentes trocos

Intel Desktop Board Extreme Series DZ77RE-75K Pictured

Intel is ready to top off its Desktop Board Extreme Series 7-series "Panther Point" lineup with the DZ77RE-75K. Its most characteristic feature is Thunderbolt I/O. Along with a handful other high-end socket LGA1155 motherboards featuring the 10 Gb/s interconnect, the DZ77RE-75K will be launched early next week.

To a very large extant, the DZ77RE-75K resembles the DZ77GA-70K, which Intel topped its Desktop Board "Panther Point" lineup with. In fact, the two share the same PCB design. The only distinguishing feature of the DZ77RE-75K is the presence of a mini-DisplayPort+Thunderbolt connector, and a DSL3310 Thunderbolt controller driving it, in tandem with Intel FDI. The DSL3310, unfortunately, is a slim variant in Intel's Thunderbolt controller lineup, and only takes advantage of PCI-Express 2.0 x2, so Thunderbolt might not perform to its fullest.

eu vou esperar pela asus se ela sair a um preço mesmo absurdo aí sim compro a deluxe mas se por acaso ela sair a um preço razoável isto diga se mais ou menos 330€ que não acredito que vá muito além disso aí compro a premium e esperar a ver o preço que vão pedir por ela...

Asus P8Z77-V PRO/TB

Newcomers units Asus P8Z77-Premium and V-V P8Z77 PRO / TB, where the former is the most expensive of the two. Here is the 20-phase power supply, 32 GB of integrated solid-state storage, supporting up to four graphics cards in Crossfire / SLI and a variety of connections, including dual Gigabit networks with an Intel chipset, 802.11n "dual band" as well as Bluetooth 4.0.

Downscaled P8Z77-V PRO / TB is not as long feature list, but still offers most of what might be needed in an expensive computer system. It includes wireless 802.11n, Gigabit Ethernet (Intel), a total of eight SATA ports and six USB 3.0.

The new motherboard will be in shops soon. Lyxmodellen Asus P8Z77-V Premium has an estimated retail price of 3800 SEK including VAT, but the price tag for P8Z77-V PRO / TB is still unknown.
