What is the most interesting about all the 90nm Athlon 64 chips code-named San Diego is that they all will support dual-channel memory access, just like Opteron CPUs. It means the Athlon 64 processors starting from 4000+ will utilize a different Socket (presumably, Socket 940) and all mainboards for the Athlon 64 chips coming out this year will not be able to support the new CPUs unless mainboard makers think about compatibility with future processors now.

According to AMD, it has not changed the launch schedule. However, sources at first-tier motherboard companies such as Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology confirmed that AMD disclosed that it will begin supplying two desktop-use Athlon 64 processors, the 3100+ and 3400+, in August.
