X1800 GTO missing in action
Still not in stock

WE checked whether ATI delivered on its promise to ship the X1800 GTO. Well it didn’t - as you still cannot buy one in Austria and Germany and we checked and found out that you cannot apparently get one in the US. At least we could not find one. However, they are available in the UK - see here.
In all fairness, Nvidia has 7600 GT and it happily ships them to all of its partners. You can go into a shop and buy one for roughly €200 but we know that once it's out X1800 GTO will give it a run for its money.
We will be watching closely what is going on with X1800 GTO cards as they should be available any day now. It is hard to get retail 7600 GT for a test as the partners are not too happy about the performance and rather chose to keep it quiet as the ATI card is very close in performance.
Once the X1800 GTO becomes available it should show up at this page. µ
ATI set to release X1900 GTO
In April
By Fuad Abazovic: sexta-feira 24 março 2006, 11:26
WE don't have many details as yet, but we know that ATI plans to introduce one more GTO card. It will be based on the R580 core, clocked probably again at 500/1000 MHz but will end up faster than the R520 based X1800 GTO. It will put extra pressure on Nvidia 7600 GT as well, that is the idea.
It is rather interesting as ATI still has to ship X1800 GTO card while its partners are already preparing the new one X1900 GTO card. This card will indeed have very high build of material (BOM) cost but we guess it has to be priced higher than €199, probably €249, if not even higher.
This means that the X1800 GTO might drop to €199 to make some space for the new GTO card and X1800 XT 256 MB sits at round €300 price. We still don’t know the master plan.
ATI is really pushing it hard, it wants to drop Nvidia's popularity in the mainstream at all costs, it seems, and it will be financially fine when it moves to 80 nanometre based RV560/RV570 chips. µ

A placa é vendida a 250 dolares. So é + 100% de lucro....
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30218ATI X1800 GTO claims top performance but is expensive to make
CeBIT 2006 R520 "Fudo" chip costs $120
WE found out that ATI's X1800 GTO will be an expensive card to make. The initial cost of the R520 chip can be as high as $120 a piece. This is a lot for the mainstream card but we are sure that ATI can cut a few bucks here and there to make some better money from it.
The X1800 GTO has a lead over Nvidia's Geforce 7600 GT due to its 256-bit memory marchitecture but we are unsure how many of these cards can ATI supply. Sources close to Nvidia think that ATI won't be able to fulfil the demand and that it won't earn that much money of the X1800 GTO cards. They might be just right.
We know that ATI wants to undermine Nvidia's mainstream dominance but it plays a dangerous game, as its production costs are relatively high. Nvidia's 7600 GT move to 90 nanometre shoud cut its costs per chip, if the yields are good. Performance is there but it is still limited with the 128-bit memory bus.
Still, ATI has something called RV570 that might just make Nvidia run for its money, sometime before the summer, we reckon. µ
