Crashes & Freezes

    Boas, tenho andando a testar algumas distros no PC descrito no meu perfil:
    -Ubuntu 7.04
    -Fedora Core 7
    -Debian 4.0-Etch

    Infelizmente não tenho sorte nenhuma em cada uma delas, pois o sistema crasha e sou obrigado a fazer reset pelo botão, dado que ao carregar ctrl+alt+bckspace para o X reiniciar ou ctrl+alt+F1 para killar o X não resultam e já começo a ficar um pouco preocupado, pois geralmente qd estou a ver uma página na net ou sei lá abro o rhythmbox pa ouvir musica e pouco depois isto crasha, até mesmo nos screensavers, umas vezes não tenho interacção nenhuma com as janelas mas dá para mexer o rato outras vezes não dá para fazer nada.
    Corri um teste completo do memtest e este não apresentou qualquer anomalia das memórias, será q se re-compilar o kernel isto resolve-se? É que já ando um pouco farto de testar distros.

    Não pareces ter nenhum hardware exótico, recompilar o kernel em principio não vai resolver nada porque nas diferentes distribuições que experimentaste já utilizaste kernels diferentes.

    Estás a usar algum driver extra-kernel? Para a placa gráfica ou para a placa de som por exemplo.

    E CTRL+ALT+F1 não te mata o X apenas vais para uma consola, olha carrega em CTRL+ALT+F7 depois de estares na consola para ver o que acontece.

    experimenta desactivar o ACPI na bios do teu pc... cheira-me a problemas de bios ou de irq routing.

    Para testares experimenta instalares o OpenSUSE com o ACPI=off

    Mas a maquina corre bem em windows, ao menos ? :D
    tipo memtest. Porque se acontece nessas distros todas, cheira-me mais a problema de hardware

    Tanto em debian como no fedora está tudo de origem, e o kernel é o que vem dos repositórios oficiais, ou seja nada alterado, quanto a matar X "burrice" minha, mas pronto aprende-se todos os dias :)

    Hoje à noite ou amanhã experimento o OpenSuse, ou então na melhor das hipóteses desligo o suporte ACPI na BIOS, depois digo qualquer cena.

    Pá quanto à cena do memtest , realmente tens razão timber se o windows se não se comporta assim não há razão para correr o memtest, mas como só tenho utilizado *nix ultimamente nem liguei, até porque preciso mesmo de ter uma distro funcional para trabalhar no desktop.

    Boas, adicionei no ficheiro do grub, no final da linha do kernel acpi=off e pci=noacpi, mas infelizmente os problemas continuam (neste momento estou a usar debian) e desliguei na bios o acpi, portanto continuo sem perceber o porquê , porque se tenho tudo de origem não percebo a razão disto continuar assim.
    É verdade , antigamente quando usava o fedora a placa que utilizava é a que tenho no perfil , agora tou com uma 9700 pro dado que a outra "ardeu".

    Se houver alguém q se tenha deparado com problemas semalhantes e que tenha resolvido, agradecia a ajuda.

    Pá o debian por defeito vinha com o driver "ati" no X, mudei agora para "radeon", até agora tem-se portado bem, espero que seja só isto, vou deixar o pc ligado durante o dia , caso haja algum crash num screensaver posto o log do X.

    Boas, após andar as aranhas com isto cheguei à conclusão que o problema estava mesmo no X, mais precisamente com o dri , desactivei e parece estável.
