CrunchBang oficialmente descontinuado

O dev que se anexe a uma das 10000 distros existentes se quiser continuar a contribuir para FOSS.
Ver quando é que deixamos de ter variedade a mais. Ou aumentamos muito em mão de obra, ou muitas distros vão morrer assim.

CrunchBang Linux Revived As CrunchBang++

Earlier this month we wrote how CrunchBang Linux was winding down with its lead developer halting development of this Debian-based distribution. However, there's new developers now forming the CrunchBang++ project.

CrunchBang Linux was closing up shop since this OpenBox-powered distribution based on Debian no longer offered much value thanks to improvements to upstream Debian and other distributions coming along over the years. Philip Newborough, the lead developer of CrunchBang, felt his users could get a great experience just running vanilla Debian. However, not everyone seems to think this way as CrunchBang++ has been started to revive CrunchBang.

The project site reads, "When CrunchBang was started, it filled a gap where efficiency met beauty. Our plan is to keep it exactly there with a tastefully reskinned UI, updated dependencies, and more current packages."

Right now the project is putting out a beta of CrunchBang++, which is powered by the current net install state of Debian 8.0 Jessie. However, the basic project site says that a release candidate will be available soon and that "#! is not dead."

Deste projeto derivaram vários forks.
O CrunchBang++ atrás citado e o BunsenLabs Linux.
Voltei-me para este último e para já, nada a apontar, impecável e atualizado constantemente, mantendo-se a comunidade activa!
Já do CB++ não se pode dizer o mesmo...

BunsenLabs Linux is a distribution offering a light-weight and easily customizable Openbox desktop. The current release is Deuterium1, derived from Debian Jessie. The project is a community continuation of CrunchBang Linux.

  • Assortment of harmonising GTK2/3 themes, wallpapers and conky configurations
  • Various configuration and application utilities to maintain this system
  • Additional desktop-, multimedia- and hardware-related packages come pre-installed to offer a better “out-of-the-box” experience.
There is no limit to customization: You can review desktop configurations in our forums’ Artwork & Screenshots section, and we also host several active threads on conky configuration.

Architectures
We offer combined live-CD and installation media for the Debian i386 (i686) and amd64 (x86-64) architectures.

However, you can install our packages also on ARM platforms. Our repository currently provides armhf. If you would like to see another Debian ARM port supported, file a request here.

e agora já ha spin unstable da coisa.

bunsen é o "fork oficial" do #!. até porque o próprio criador do #! deu e continua a dar suporte no que pode ao bunsen. e empresta a infraestrutura ao bunsen.
o resto é jajão.
