Dell buys Alienware
Well this is a rather shocking but by no means surprising move by Dell. Shocking because I personally never thought it possible, please excuse my ignorance. Seems like the deal went thru real quietly, but we can finally say that Dell is selling AMD based PCs. The two firms will continue as seperate entities. So in the future not much will change for us as customers it seems. Although the news seems reliable, it should be noted that it is still unconfirmed by either firm.

sim, nestes moldes, não creio que isto va mudar muito.
mas também, não sei qual pode ser o interesse da Dell na compra da AlienWare.
sinceramente, gostava de saber.
 
Koncaman assim já vende AMD's :P Pralém do mais a Dell fez uma pequena incursão no mundo da Alienware na E3 se não tou em erro... Com akele Dell Quad-SLI vermelho com chamas...

Subscrevo. Eu quando li a noticia lembrei-me logo daquele Dell Quad-SLI, julgo que a Dell pretende desenvolver uma divisão mais high-end e exclusiva na sua linha de produtos e a Alienware encaixa que nem uma luva e poderá ser uma "porta" para a AMD, embora a chegada do Conroe poderá constituir um entrave a essa concretização á miuto esperada.

bem, se a dell quer AMD, nada mais simples, vai comprar uns cpu's :P
não precisava de estar com este escamuteamento todo, a menos que a intel lhes de umas condições super duper espetaculares, a nivel de preços, mas exija exclusividade (que ja vimos que é o mais certo)
contudo, a intel pode também não gostar que a alienware, agora parte da dell, use AMD's, e aí é que a porca torce o rabo.

A verdade é que a Dell compra mesmo CPU's AMD (a um distribuidor, não à AMD ela mesma) e os revende no seu site.
Apenas demonstrei que aquilo que parecia uma piada... é real.
 
mas não era piada nenhuma... so se fosse pelo smile.
aquilo foi mais para dizer que nada impede a Dell de comprar AMD, a não ser a sua vontade, ou eventualmente um contrato de luxo com a intel, que exija exclusividade. para mim, esta ultima hipotese é a unica que justifica a completa ostracização dos cpus da AMD por parte da Dell, que ate nem é uma estrategia aparentemente muito inteligente, visto que neste momento a AMD é quem tem os melhores desempenhos relativos.
 
No deal between Dell and Alienware

It seems that there will be no deal between Dell and Alienware. According to a Dell company spokesman who denys the rumors that Dell bought Alienware, this is a bit much of a speculation. Here's what he has to say:

I'd suggest you take that speculation with a grain of salt given the origin stated in the blog (Alienware's competitor)--you can never be sure what the motivation is," McKeon told ZDNet Australia via e-mail. He also questioned the reasons behind such an acquisition, stating that Dell has the potential to be seen as a "cool" company and is more than capable of building viable gaming machines without Alienware's help.
