On August 19, console gamers around the world will be able to join the crusade against death itself when Diablo® III: Reaper of Souls™ - Ultimate Evil Edition™ launches on the PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The console-exclusive Ultimate Evil Edition includes all of the content from the original Diablo III, as well as new features and updates from the critically acclaimed Reaper of Souls expansion. With six customizable character classes, five engrossing acts, and countless hours of gameplay, this all-inclusive package is a treasure trove of fast-paced demon-slaying action and cooperative adventure.

Reaper of Souls adds a challenging new act to Diablo III in which players will embark on a dark and perilous journey through terrifying landscapes; explore the legendary city of Westmarch; and slay countless minions, each hell-bent on bringing the players’ heroic quest to a grisly end. Diablo 3 confirmed for PS4 & PS3

Blizzard Entertainment's Chris Metzen took to the stage at Sony's PlayStation Meeting event today to confirm the news.

"Console game development is in our blood, we're very passionate about it," said Metzen. We held a deep desire to get back into the midst.

"We spent a lot of time thinking about which of our franchises could translate to console, that could make the jump while maintaining the accessibility.

"We know we've found that game."

He went on to promise "painstakingly optimized control schemes", and a new four-player co-op mode. The game will also be fitted with new inventory management systems, player customisation, and offer direct control over characters.

"The PS3/PS4 version of Diablo III will be based on the critically acclaimed core experience of the PC version, including all of the latest upgrades, such as the Paragon leveling system, customizable Monster Power, Brawling, and epic Legendary items," said Blizzard in a press release.

It went on to promise "an intuitive control scheme and a new dynamic camera perspective".

"Diablo 3 has never been as easy to play," added Metzen.

While saying that a PS3 version was already up and running, the developer held off showing the game at the Sony event.

Blizzard has, however, confirmed that the PS3 version of Diablo III will be shown in playable form at PAX East, taking place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center from March 22-24, where attendees will go hands-on with the game.

CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Morhaime said, "Diablo III looks and plays great on the PlayStation. We put a lot of care and thought into the PlayStation version to make sure it would deliver an authentic Diablo gaming experience, and we're really pleased with the results. We can't wait for players to try it out at PAX East."

Diablo 3: PS3 screens surface, PS4 details shared

Diablo 3 developer Blizzard has posted debut screens of its console build, heading to PS4 and PS3. The studio has also discussed key elements of the game, such as custom controls and co-op.

In a post over on Battle.net, Blizzard explained that the PS3 and PS4 edition of Diablo 3 would be based on the core PC game, and will include Paragon levels, the Infernal Machine event, Monster Power, and Brawling. It will be ‘adapted’ for PS4, suggesting an enhanced edition is in the works as well.

Four-player online co-op was confirmed, and there is even four-player local mode too for split-screen carnage.

Blizzard added that the game would be shown running at PAX East between March 22nd–24th.

Diablo 3 on PS3 and PS4 will allow offline play

"You can have four people on the same screen - no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you're offline,"

Diablo 3: no cross-play between PS3 & PC

“As a result, the characters on your Battle.net account and PlayStation account will also remain separate. In terms of allowing an analog controller hookup for the PC, we don’t have any plans for that kind of support right now.

“Similarly, since Diablo III for console was designed with a controller in mind, the PlayStation version of Diablo III will not support USB mice or keyboards.”
