E3'S DOOMED...

A leaked E3 brochure has claimed id Software bloke Tim Willits is to be showing something creepy in LA next month

16:27 According to pre-show literature, id Software is to show a DOOM title at American games summit E3 on Wednesday, May 22.
Before you ask, it looks almost certain to be the monstrously anticipated first-person shooter update DOOM 3. According to the brochure, the title is to be shown in a seminar dubbed "Sneak peek: Inside the development process of the hottest upcoming titles". The event is scheduled to be held between 2.30pm and 3.30pm PST at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Activision would say only that its line-up for the key expo is yet to be confirmed today.

DOOM 3 is expected to ship for PC and Xbox. No date has been specified as yet.

The news comes as no shock. id Software is now listed as an exhibitor on the official E3 website and will have its own floor space in the South Hall of the largest games show on Earth. Rock on. Other titles expected to be seen on the stand include Quake IV and console versions of Gray Matter's recent PC smash, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, with an add-on disc to the recent PC hit looking equally likely.

DOOM 3 was shown running for the first time at MacWorld last year in Tokyo, with legendary id coder John Carmack, true to form, shocking the planet with some incredible graphics on nVidia's GeForce3 visual processor.

The series is possibly the most famous in its genre, being preceded only by Nazi-blaster Wolfenstein 3D, another product of Carmack's fertile imagination.

DOOM 3 SCREENS CAUSE HEART ATTACKS

Well, not quite, but if this is real-time youid better strap yourself in. Say after us: Jon Carmack, GeForce 3, CG quality graphics…

Holy, flamini, bloody bananas. id Software coding legend Jon "Ferrari shaped ponytail" Carmack has demoed DOOM 3 for the first time at MacWorld 2001 in Japan, and if the images weive received are anything to go by, this is going to make the awesome Quake III: Arena look like a teddy bearsi picnic.
There's no indication from the show as to whether or not this is real-time footage, but the graphical level seen in these images is literally CG quality and should bring the entire first-person shooting fraternity to its knees. The demo was made as part of a GeForce 3 demonstration at the show. The next generation nVidia graphics card will appear for the first time in the new slew of G4s in March.Enough prattling. Get. A load. Of these shots.
