According to information published by Help Net Security -at http://www.net-security.org/vuln.php?id=1809- a denial of service vulnerability has been discovered that affects all versions of Half-Life (220.127.116.11 included) multiplayer server. This flaw stems from the fact that a user can remotely create a large number of new users in the targeted server by entering false data in the connection dialog. Servers can admit a certain number of players only, so when the limit is exceeded, no more players can connect to the competition. Due to this bug, when denial of service occurs, users that want to join the game receive a "Server full" message. The server administrator will see that the maximum number of players has been reached, however, if he tries to consult the players' names, he will find nobody.
