First Conroe Block Diagrams

    We haven't been at IDF more than 10 minutes and we've already got block diagrams

    As soon as we got to the Spring Intel Developer Forum 2006, Intel gave us exclusive access to the Conroe block diagram before the keynote. As expected, Conroe uses a shared L2 cache with independent L1 caches per core.

    Conroe will be on demonstration later today at IDF

    While the diagram is very low resolution, it shows that Conroe is definitely slated to run on the Intel 975X family of chipsets. The chipset itself supports DDR-2 memory, one PCIe 16x or twin 8x slots and will remain as Intel's flagship through a good part of this year. L2 cache makes up a significant portion of Conroe's silicon space.

    Não me parece muito k va ser esse o caso... depois dos resultados dum simples conroe 2.67ghz vs FX60 @ 2.8...
    Ou a AMD nos supreende a todos a grande com o AM2 ou a Intel vai ganhar esta nova geração... e por muito mesmo...
    Se um conroe 2.67ghz faz esses resultados, imaginem so o k nao vai fazer o Conroe Extreme Edition, 3.33ghz e bus a 1333mhz...

    Pois, mas também o concorrente do conroe não é o socket 939, mas os cpu's AM2...

    Embora eu duvido que os AM2 venham muito melhores que os 939, mas posso estar enganado.

    Este conroe a 3,33 ghz parece que não terá concorrente, mas o TDP do bicho deve ser bem puxado... Visto ser um cpu pré-overclockado

    mesmo sendo a 3.33ghz o TDP nao deve ser tao grande kuanto isso... se do 2.67 é 67W no maximo dos maximos deve ser uns 90/100W... O k é menos do k o FX57 ou o FX60 por exemplo

    Intel's Conroe desktop CPU on the right track to top AMD
    With the next generation dual core, 65nm desktop CPUs Intel has ready to roll out in about 4 months, the company may regain some ground within gaming ethusiasts' circles. Initial tests, that were solicited by Intel on systems built by them, of the "Conroe" CPUs have it pummeling AMD's top, expensive Athlon FX CPU. And it does it at roughly the same speed (~170MHz slower than the FX, in fact.)

    Conroe is a CPU that Intel touts as a merger of Pentium-M technology of low power consumption and heat dissipation combined with what they've learned from the Pentium 4. It will be interesting to see the final product and if it will be the "gamers" choice for the next year or two.
