Com o Cell este problema praticamente não se coloca. É a vantagem de ter os SPEs ligados ao PPU com um bus a sério.
O problema é saber se o Cell vai ser melhor do que o GPU para foldar.

Do lado BOINC não há nada novidades destas assim sumarentas :\. Se bem que eu não me posso queixar das optimizações maravilha do Alexkan para OS X (PPC e Intel).

To take advantage of CUDA, NVIDIA will be releasing a compiler that will allow standard C code to be executed on the GPU. Of course, only certain types of applications will benefit from being run on the GPU, namely those that require massive amount of floating point performance, like Folding@Home for example.
