The biggest advantage of these new CPUs from AMD is that they utilize the dual memory channel and don’t need registered memory modules. Speed differences are 200MHz higher from the previous models while we were successfully able to overclock the FX53 to 220MHz which resulted in 2640MHz as you can read in our forums. This is a good indication that AMD might have the next version of the CPU ready for release anytime they want to.

Without doubt, the new FX53 will cost quite a bit. But if you look at the pricing of the P4 Extreme Edition, then it doesn’t look that bad. Obviously, the rich kids that want the fastest PCs will go for the FX53, while the 3800+ would probably be the more popular solution as its just a tad bit slower than the FX53 and probably a lot less expensive.

Either ways, it seems that the current generation of the P4 architecture might not be able to compete well with the Athlon64 in the near future. Intel needs to bring their Dothan quickly to the desktop market if they want to fight back.

A diferença entre um 3800 e um Fx53 é entre 0 a 4% naquela review. O PIV EE fica para trás a maior parte das vezes.

p.s. - Achei que por ter o Fx53 valia a pena uma nova thread. Se um moderador tiver opinião contraria, pedia para juntar à outra thread onde tem a review da x86.
 
A dif de preço vai se astronomica ;)

Por uma lado fico contente em ver o s754 dar-se tão "bem", é sinal que se comprar um já vou ficar muitissimo bem servido :-D
 
Epah viram akela diferença no 2k1 quase 1k entre o FX-53 e o 3800+ ouch... 8o
De resto o dobro do cache do FX bate o A64 normal mas tbm já era de esperar...de ***** forma a diferença de preço n compensa a ''pequena'' diferença de perfomance

Valeu a pena esperar pelo Socket 939, pois neste momento é claramente a melhor plataforma.

Foi engraçado ver a INTEL perder 2 dos benchs k tem dominado ao longo do tempo para o FX55 (DivX e Quake3)

Agr é esperar k cheguem a PT... :rolleyes:

Devido ao €€€ disponivel estou mais inclinado para o 3500+ uma vez k é superior ao 3400+(754) e ao FX51
Penso k tb tera uma boa capacidade de OC.

Axo que embora demorada a AMD fez 1 exelente trabalho :x2: , esperemos k os preços e a disponibilidade n atrasem a entrada do 939. :009:

A memoria unbuffered é mais rapida, como tal o 939 ganha.
 
Zar0n - posso ser so eu mas acho que a diferença de preço entre s754 e cpu's s939 vai tudo menos valer a pena, especialmente tendo em conta que isso são diferenças regra geral minimas e o a64 3500+ s939 em principio vai custar $500 8o :sad:
 
Sendo o 3500+ o mais barato, à volta dos 500€ não me parece uma entrada suave, mas vê-se que a estratégia é S939 -> topos de gama , s754 -> média e baixa. Isto, claro, ao inicio, mais tarde deverão lançar as versões mais lentas e baratas para generalizar este novo socket.

Vou-me ficar mesmo por este s754, precisando apenas dos novos chipsets, por causa dos locks. Só é pena é o tardar da chegada de boards com AGP e PCIe, senão até esperava por essas. Acho que neste caso vou mm optar por uma Epox 8KDA5+ ou pela Chaintech com nf3 250, segundo a ultima review do Anando.

Juro, nunca vi a AMD tão careira como nos ultimos meses, é pena senão ainda experimentava uma CPU das novas, então quanto custará o 3800+ ???

Lá vou esperar até ao Natal....
 
Zar0n - então ai problema é que vais ter que esperar e muito (tipo 2nd geração de mobos s939 com pci-ex como deve ser e pela baixa de preços,etc..antes que isto se torne viável já tamos na pascoa do ano que vem lol)

LOL é verdade !!! Bom, já gastei dinheiro este ano, mas foi por uma boa causa WC , mas tb tinha 2 máquinas e agora só tenho 1, as coisas "equilibram-se" ;)

..pois tb estava com esperança no lançamento do PCIe e afins...vamos ver o que intel vai apresentar em Agosto, certo?

Acho que continua a ser má altura para investir, só para quem necessitar...
 
eu este ano n mudo de plataforma ... perfiro fazer uma revisão geral do resto dos componentes e para o ano mudo ... mudei para RAID, vou aumentar o WC, e talvez mais umas "pequenas" coisas que vão custar mais uns valentes €€€€ mas que se lixe vale a pena

O meu target é dps das ferias.

So que a AMD so vai produzir mais CPU's 939 do que 754 no Q4 2004 ou Q1 2005.
