Last week, when Cliff Bleszinski explained that the multiplayer of Gears of War would disallow ranked team play, a lot of people got confused. He clarified that:
It's "ranked" meaning that when you are joining a ranked match you are being shown games that are determined to be at the same level as you are by the Xbox Live arbitration system and TrueSkill. You cannot join with your friends as that would throw the system off given they are likely to be at different ranks and also makes it easier to cheat. So when you search for ranked match you only see games that are playing at your level. It's required by Microsoft to be this way.
Fine. It stands to logic. No cheaters, same level of difficulty, required by the "Big M." Sure. Can't argue with that (especially the last bit). But it seems that a multiplayer game like this that emphasizes team play won't let us play with our friends. We're going to be thrown into the battle with others who are just about as good (or bad) as we would be.
Just recently, Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein suggested that they might offer some additional functionality in the future. As to what kind of functionality, who knows. All we can do now is sit tight and keep our fingers on the trigger. While a lot of people feel that a game of this caliber should allow team play with folks you personally know, the bomb of hope is still there, waiting to explode into possibility.
Eu prefiro páginas Europeias, a Eurogamer e a Gamekult.
Quanto ao Call of Duty 3, prefiro jogar FPS no PC.

The immersive gameplay and astonishing graphics are probably what has made Epic Games' Gears of War the most talked about game in the QJ offices since its release early this week. Those who don't have it want it, those who do have it wished they played it more, and those who don't have an Xbox 360...well, they lose out altogether.
But even if you've been playing GoW 24 hours a day since November 7, there's still something which you haven't tried that you'll sure to be jealous of, and that's playing Gears of War on a 20-metre high screen. Whilst it sounds like a thing of fantasy, it most certainly isn't. Although the above screen doesn't look that big, if you click the thumbnail and think about it in perspective you'll soon realise its giant size.
One lucky reporter from Spong has achieved the goal of playing GoW on the 20-meter high screen at the London IMAX cinema in England. The giant cinema screen is powered by a 12,000 Lumens Projector, in what we can only assume to be a very loud 5.1 Dolby surround sound. An IMAX representative told Spong that the screen was the height of five double decker buses! The projectionist at the cinema said, “This is the first time we’ve ever hooked up an Xbox 360 to a cinema projector and the effect was insane … like a total cinema experience but also interactive.”
Hopefully, this would be the first of many similar instances. Imagine playing if the Matchbox360 GoW LAN was on that!
