SoddemFX disse:Back in 2002 i bought a classic GF3 brand new for £50, which being a poor student i was delighted with
Since then i have always wanted to gain the highest 3DMark2001 score for this card and ive always believed that this was possible.
On cold air this Visiontek GF3 is able to reach 260MHz core and 560MHz memory frequencies. The core has been lapped for better contact, the standard core is quite concave.
Due to the age of the card the voltage regulation is beginning to degrade, as a result increasing the voltage results in lower maximum frequencies, which is annoying. This benchmark is at stock voltages.
The system is cooled by dual phase change systems. The CPU is running at -40C, the GPU at -50C.
Due to severe undervolting and poor voltage regulation on my DFI NF3 Ultra-D the maximum memory voltage i can achieve is 3.05v at the DIMM. This limits me to 235MHz on my BH-5, as a result i have to run a 133MHz divider which gives a poor memory frequency of 195MHz. Despite this i was able to break the previous record by nearly 1000 points.
Here is the compare URL:
Whilst attempting a further run at 3.4GHz CPU, 305MHz GPU core, 605MHz GPU memory the card decided enough was enough and did all sorts of wierd stuff. But it hasnt been harmed, maybe tomorrow i will try for 16000 But for now i have #1 :woot:
I am very happy! Old hardware is still fun
