PlayStation Gran Turismo Sport

Audi Vision GT Continues Its Slow Reveal With Latest Trailer

With less than week until its reveal, Audi has shown a new glimpse of its upcoming Vision GT car.

The look comes via a new video, though the car itself is only visible for a few brief instances. It certainly seems like the only thing slow about the Audi Vision GT is the reveal itself — check out how quick the car is below:

From what little we see of the new model, it looks to conform to the more modern mould for the program. That is to say, it’s a very racing-oriented model, with a low, wide stance and a giant wing sitting proud on the tail. The lighting signature at the rear incorporates the Audi logo itself, and a handful of strakes on either corner. Audi’s mirrored those strakes up front too, seemingly as a nod to the road-going R8.

It isn’t too long now before GT Sport players will have a chance to drive the Audi Vision GT. The German marque will show the car off on April 9, and we expect it to arrive in-game around that same time. Before it does, another GT Sport update will arrive later this week.

GT Sport Update 1.16 Arrives (And It's Absolutely Massive)

The phrase “good things come in small packages” has never been so apt. Polyphony Digital has released the v1.16 update for GT Sport today and, despite only containing bug fixes, it’s huge.

Weighing in at over 24GB, you’d be excused for expecting nothing short of oodles of new content. In fact it only contains fixes for issues that emerged in the v1.15 update, just as we speculated yesterday.

So why is this patch as big as all the previous updates put together? Well, it is all of the previous updates put together. Unusually, the 1.16 patch forces a reinstallation of every update so far. The patch notes are unclear as to whether this is a conscious decision by Sony or Polyphony, or an unintended consequence. Either way, set aside a good chunk of your day for the download, or hope you’ve remembered to allow your PS4 to download updates automatically and left it in standby mode…

The good news is, once you’re done downloading, this update fixes the issue with Thrustmaster wheels, particularly the T500RS. It also addresses the sound bug, where players would experience a drop-out of all sound effects.

The full patch notes are as follows:

"1. Steering Controller
– Fixed an issue where the Thrustmaster® T500RS became unusable in the 1.15 Update.

2. Sound
– Fixed an issue where operating sounds, and sound effects such as tire screeching noise would sometimes stop working while playing.

3. Sports Mode / Lobby
– Fixed an issue where the car is not displayed properly during pit stops.
– Fixed an issue where the playback feature was disabled while spectating.

Other minor corrections and adjustments have been performed.

The PS4 Patch distribution uses the SIE differential patch distribution service, but we have found that this patch is currently set in the system to re-download all patches.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused."

EDITOR’S NOTE: Sony has taken mercy on players (and its servers, probably). The full 24GB download is no more: v1.16 weighs in at an otherwise normal 107MB. If your original gargantuan download is still going, simply cancel it and start the update process again to get the single most current patch. The rest of the article is from its original publishing.

Lancia 037 Rally Car Coming to Gran Turismo, According to UK Dealer

Polyphony Digital just added cars to Gran Turismo Sport last week. There’s a certain futuristic Audi concept en route for next week, too. But it looks like another marque could be returning to the GT fold, at least according to a high-end automotive dealer.

The hint comes care of Girardo & Co in the UK. The London-based showroom has a variety of classic motorsport metal — seriously, check out the inventory — including a works Lancia 037. In a recent Instagram post, Girardo & Co suggested the car would be “coming to a PlayStation near you soon,” while also hash-tagging Gran Turismo. See for yourself:

This wouldn’t be the first time social media has outed a car for the game before its official reveal. We first heard of the Lexus RC F Super GT car back in 2016, and it arrived as part of the March update. In early 2017, Carter Jung teased the Isle of Man record-breaking Subaru.

The 037 is a bit of a unicorn. Outside of a handful of rally titles (as recently as this year’s Gravel) it has only really appeared in the Forza franchise and PS2 hidden gem Enthusia. It also marks an important milestone for not only Lancia, but the sport of rallying as a whole. The 037 took the fight to the dominant Audis of the 1983 WRC season, emerging victorious as the last rear-drive car to win the title. The story of Lancia’s success was the subject of one of our favourite Grand Tour segments, too.

As for when players can expect to get their hands on the digital equivalent in GT Sport? That’s a good question. If Girard & Co’s shot was recent, it could be a year or so before the 037 tackles Lago Maggiore. At the very least, it suggests a long-term approach to post-release support from Polyphony. Stay tuned for more as the story develops: we’ve reached out to Girard & Co for more information.

Did Polyphony Digital Just Accidentally Reveal a New Car Class for GT Sport?

An entirely new car category would have surprised users logging into GT Sport‘s Daily Races this morning.

Race A and Race C had the usual selection: a One Make event and a Gr.3 sprint. However Race B showed a previously unseen car class, called Gr.A. Users attempting to enter this race found that they had no suitable cars either.

As you may know, GT Sport divides cars up into a selection of different categories. N-class cars are regular street cars, further divided by their power output rounded to the nearest 100PS. Racing cars can be street-based Gr.4, more focused Gr.3, and prototype Gr.1. The last major content update introduced the silhouette Gr.2 class too. There’s also Gr.B, a dedicated rally class, and Gr.X for concept and experimental cars, such as Vision Gran Turismo. To date we’ve not seen Gr.A.

These categories closely mirror real car groups, such as street-based GT4 and prototype LMP1. Gr.B refers to defunct class of barely restricted race cars — Group B — that’s commonly associated with rally. Gr.A could therefore refer to Group A, a production-based category of rally and touring cars. Famous Group A vehicles include the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo from DTM, the “Godzilla” Nissan R32 Skyline used in JTCC and several versions of the Mitsubishi Lancer and Subaru Impreza that dominated World Rally.

However, there are no such vehicles currently in GT Sport. That’s naturally lead to some speculation about the contents of the game’s next update — and also some bewilderment regarding how one is supposed to enter this race.

For now at least, it looks like the class label of “Gr.A” was an error. Shortly after GTPlanet’s sharp-eyed users first reported this, the race became a Gr.4 event.

So, was it a mistake — did someone read a “4” as an “A” and input it incorrectly — or is Gr.A on the Polyphony Digital radar? Keep an eye on GTPlanet for more details.
