Racing Game GRID is Getting a New Entry in September 2019

Codemasters has announced that GRID will be making a comeback later this year, with a fourth entry in the series. This latest one will take the racing action to the streets of the world's most famous cities across four different continents, in a variety of race disciplines.

GRID will encompass GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle Cars, Super-Modified racing, and more, in Circuit, Street Racing, Oval, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point, and World Time Attack, and promises to balance risk and reward with responsive handling and a steady learning curve for arcade and sim fans alike.

Former F1 racer Fernando Alonso will also be serving as Race Consultant for GRID, appearing in the game via a series of events againts his esports driving team, 'FA Racing' across multiple classes. This aspect of the game will culminate in a final head-to-head showdown with Alonso in his Renault R26 F1 car.

Progression in GRID will unlock extra vehicle liveries, player cards, teammates, and driving accolades, as you look to earn a place on the podium and achieve victory in the GRID World Series Championship. You can also expect realistic damage that affects performance and handling, with excessive contact between racers creating nemesis rivals who'll stop at nothing to exact revenge during a race.

GRID will be making its debut for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 13th September 2019, with an Ultimate Edition that will bundle Seasons 1-3 content. Check out the IGN reveal trailer below.

Latest GRID Car Roster Reveals: Acura and Cadillac DPis, Tuner Cars and More

Codemasters has confirmed a further 10 cars for the upcoming return of GRID. Featuring an F1 car, modern prototypes, and tuner models, it offers a little something for everyone.

For those keeping score at home, it’s been just over a month since we learned of the first batch of confirmed cars. This group swells the ranks of most of the classes in the game.

One car we already knew about was the Renault R26. Codemasters confirmed it the same day as GRID itself, as Fernando Alonso will star in the game. His 2006 championship-winning ride will join him, which should prove quite the challenge for players — he has to be pretty good with it, right?

Also joining the franchise for the first time is a pair of Daytona Prototypes. Both Acura and Cadillac’s contenders will be in the game from launch, providing a significant performance step up from the GT class. Will Mazda or Nissan’s cars join them, either at launch or after? We’ll see.

The remaining confirmed cars, plus their relevant competition classes, are below:

  • Aston Martin Vantage GT4 – GT
  • Honda Civic Type R TCR – Touring
  • Mazda RX-7 Panspeed – Tuner
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Time Attack – Tuner
  • Subaru Impreza WRX – Tuner
  • Subaru WRX STI TC-2 – Touring
  • SRT Viper GTS-R – GT
The Aston Martin Vantage is new to the franchise, though its inclusion isn’t a complete shock to anybody who’s driven it in Codemaster’s DiRT Rally 2.0 over the last six months. The Civic and Viper are both new as well.

After a slight delay, GRID will be launching October 11. Stay tuned to GTPlanet for more as the date draws near, including the rest of the car list.

A IA parece estar muito boa.

Eu gostei bastante dos GRIDs anteriores, mas com tanto jogo de carros, este devo esperar que entre em promoção.

Full GRID Track List Revealed: 13 Locations, Over 80 Layouts at Launch

Codemasters has shown off the full list of locations for next month’s GRID. The track-focused racer will feature 13 distinct spots at launch, with a handful of franchise debuts amongst them.

The full list of tracks came courtesy of a GRID account tweet. Coming just before the reveal of most of the car roster, the baker’s dozen features a combination of real world and original circuits:

Full GRID Track List
  • Barcelona
  • Brands Hatch
  • Crescent Valley
  • Havana
  • Indianapolis
  • Okutama GP
  • Okutama Sprint
  • San Francisco
  • Sepang International Circuit
  • Shanghai
  • Silverstone Circuit
  • Sydney Motorsport Park
  • Zhejiang Circuit
New to the series are Havana, Shanghai, and China’s Zhejiang circuit, which only opened a few years ago. Crescent Valley will be familiar to GRID Autosport players, as it was that game’s Autosport Speedway.

Of particular note is Sydney Motorsport Park. The Down Under race track is a wayback playback, last appearing in TOCA Race Driver 3 in the distant past that is 2006. It should look quite different this time around…

Players will deal with different times of day across the GRID track list, as well as weather. Codemasters is promising over 80 different circuit layouts, and with the game only six weeks away, we expect a full breakdown of those soon. Stay tuned to GTPlanet for more GRID news as that October 11 launch draws nearer.
