Direct LED is just the way a television is lit from behind the panel, it doesn't mean necessarily that its better than edge LED.
What is better however is FALD(Full Array Local Dimming). The U7Q has basic local dimming with only a few zones, whilst the U8Q has more advanced local dimming with more zones.
The U8Q is the only one suited for HDR use, due to its peak brightness of almost 1200nits.
If you can afford it, go for the U8Q. If you really want a 65" wait to save up for the 65" U8Q.
What you want to avoid this day and age is going for something cheaper unless you have strictly no plans to use HDR material on the TV...something that is increasingly harder and harder to do nowadays especially if you want to stream.
