Honor 50 and 50 Lite arrive in Europe with Google services in tow
Honor is back in Europe with two models – both with Google Mobile Services, just like in the good old days. The two phones are the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Lite, but we have to clear some things up. First, the Pro model hasn’t made the trip yet (here’s a quick look at the differences between the two).
Second, the Honor 50 Lite is not the Honor 50 SE. The Lite model appears to be based on the Huawei nova 8i, though this model will be available later on, so expect more details soon.
The Honor 50 is already showing up on HiHonor.com, the company’s official online store. In the UK branch there is a countdown that has only a few hours left on it before the pre-orders start, deliveries will begin on November 12. If you pre-order by November 11, you will get an Honor MagicWatch 2 46 mm Sports for free (normally, this smartwatch goes for £120).
Other regional branches of the online store are also looking to start up pre-orders soon. On continental Europe, the Honor 50 will start at €530 for a unit with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage, with an 8/256 GB option available for €600. You can pick between four colors: Midnight Black, Emerald Green, Frost Crystal and the supposedly limited edition Honor Code. Note that the watch deal seems to be available only in the UK.

As for the Honor 50 Lite, we’re not seeing it in the Euro stores just yet. This model will come with a €300 price tag for a 6/128 GB phone.
As a quick recap, the Honor 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 778G, has a 6.57” 120 Hz OLED display, a 108 MP and 8 MP cameras on the back, 32 MP on the front and a 4,300 mAh battery with 66W fast charging (70% in 20 minutes). The phone runs Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11 out of the box with full access to the Google Play Store (and other Google services). This was also the case when the phone launched in Malaysia.
The Honor 50 Lite meanwhile has a slightly larger 6.67” display, 64 MP main camera and the same 66W fast charging.

Honor 50 series unveiled with 120Hz displays, 108MP cameras and ***** support
Honor opened a new page in its history today with the release of its Honor 50 series. The Honor 50 Pro, Honor 50 and Honor 50 SE are the first devices from the company which will ship with ***** support out the box in over a year. All three come with 120Hz displays, 108MP main cams and up to 100W fast charging.
The Honor 50 and its Pro counterpart are also the first phones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset. The Honor 50 SE is the more affordable entry in the trio and relies on Mediatek’s Dimensity 900 platform.
Honor 50 and 50 Pro
The best of the Honor 50 bunch is naturally the Pro model. It packs a curved 6.72-inch 10-bit AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a pair of selfie cameras (32MP main + 12MP ultrawide) housed in the pill-shaped cutout. The display brings 300Hz touch sampling rate, dynamic refresh rate which should help with battery life.
Honor 50 Pro and Honor 50
The regular Honor 50 dials back to a 6.57-inch panel with the same core specs as the panel on the Pro model though it only carries a single 32MP selfie shooter.
Around the back, both phones share identical cameras housed in two large circular openings. There’s a 108MP main cam in the top ring with a 1/1.52-inch sensor and 9 to 1 pixel binning. The accompanying lenses include an 8MP ultrawide snapper and two 2MP modules for macro shots and depth data. Honor is also touting special Vlog modes which capture video from the front and back cameras simultaneously.
These are the first smartphones to use Qualcomm’s new 778G mobile platform which brings a Kryo 670 CPU paired with an Adreno 642L GPU for performance close to the Snapdragon 780G. The SoC is paired with 8 or 12GB RAM.
The software front is covered by Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11. International units are expected to arrive with ***** support out the box. Honor 50 Pro comes with a 4,000 mAh battery and 100W wired charging speeds while the vanilla model packs a larger 4,300 mAh cell with 66W charging.
Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro go on pre-sale from June 25 in China. Honor 50 starts at CNY 2,699 ($422) while the Honor 50 Pro begins at CNY 3,699 ($578). Honor confirmed both will be available internationally in over 40 regions, but didn't provide a date for that.
Honor 50 SE
The Honor 50 SE brings a flat 6.78-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a single punch hole for the 16MP selfie shooter. The back houses the same 108MP main cam from the more expensive models alongside an 8MP ultrawide cam and a 2MP macro cam.
Honor 50 SE
The big change comes in the SoC department where the Honor 50 SE packs Mediatek’s Dimensity 900 platform paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The phone brings a 4,000 mAh battery with 66W wired charging. It boots Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11. Pricing starts at CNY 2,399 ($375) and availability in China begins on July 2.
100W charger for the upcoming Honor 50 series gets pictured
Honor is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone series next month, and rumor has it we'll be looking at three smartphones in the family: Honor 50, Honor 50 Pro, and Honor 50 Pro+. One or two of these will get 100W fast wired charging, as already revealed through a past certification, and today the 100W charging brick has leaked in all its glory in the hands-on image you can see below.
It's likely that only the Honor 50 Pro+ will use this specific charger, with the other two models limited to 66W. The 50 and 50 Pro are also said to sport the same chipset, namely the recently unveiled Snapdragon 778G, while the 50 Pro+ will go with Qualcomm's top dog for 2021, the Snapdragon 888. We're hoping that, since Honor is an independent company now, it will also be able to use Google services again, after the split from Huawei (which is still banned by the US government).
A well known and usually reliable leakster out of China claims that this 100W charger will be in the box, and not an optional accessory. So it looks like Honor isn't ready to be 'inspired' by Apple and Samsung removing chargers from retail packages just yet.
