Honor Band 5 teased, may launch alongside the Honor 9X

The Honor Band 4 announced last September may soon get a successor which will be likely called the Band 5, as the company president George Zhao has teased a new fitness band on Chinese social network Weibo.

Zhao has shared a picture of the band which looks similar to the Band 4. You can see that it has a colored display, likely AMOLED, which is accompanied by a circular button.

Like the Band 4, the Band 5 will also monitor your heart rate, but it will also measure your blood oxygen levels and help detect fatigue, listlessness, dizziness, and of course, monitor your sleep.

Zhao didn't reveal the launch date of the Band 5, but considering its predecessor was announced alongside the Honor 8X, we may see the Band 5 go official on July 23 which is when the 9X will be unveiled.

Alongside the Honor 9X and 9X Pro, the brand also unveiled its latest smart band – the Honor Band 5. The Standard Edition costs CNY 190 ($28/€25), the one with NFC goes up to CNY 220 ($32/€29).

Like the previous version, the band features a 0.95” color OLED display with 120 x 240px resolution. It can display text messages from SMS, WeChat and QQ. The battery should last 14 days between charges.

The Honor Band 5 has an optical heart rate monitor as before (a slightly newer model, TruSeen 3.5, up from 3.0). Also, it gains an SpO2 sensor (blood oxygen saturation), which can be useful for the adventurous types (if you climb to high altitudes) or those suffering from certain conditions (e.g. hypoxia).

The band is water resistant up to 50m and features 10 sport modes, including stroke recognition for swimming.

The Honor Band 5 Standard Edition is available in China today (CNY 190), the NFC version is coming on July 29 (CNY 220).

Band 5 a 27 euros.
