is the name of a device that is equipped with sophisticated spray printing equipment designed specifically for large-format advertising surfaces.
A product of Jochum Technology GmbH, the printer has been out on the market since the middle of last year. In the 2004 Formula 1 season, the Groundprinter is to be used to print on the ground surrounding the race tracks. The printer travels independently across the surface, spraying on a variety of color media. With this method, large-format advertising logos can be printed on asphalt, lawns, rugs, plastic sheeting or films.
The Groundprinter is basically an advanced coating technique known as "computerized airbrushing". Thanks to its special application process, the printer can utilize virtually all color media, from varnish all the way to environmentally friendly lawn paint. The lettering or images can be applied to all conceivable materials: trade show carpets, straw mats, artificial turf, asphalt, cobblestone surfaces, natural turf, wood or plastic sheets, sheet metal, etc. The only requirement is that the surface must be flat. The device is operated like a conventional PC printer: fill in the color, load the image bitmap in the control computer and start.
