Injustice: Gods Among Us Will Have More Content Than MK9

NetherRealm Studios believes the key to Injustice's success is plenty of content.

Injustice: Gods Among Us has a tough fight on its hands. Not only does it need to convince gamers of its virtues as a traditional fighter, but it also needs to provide something different at the same time.

NetherRealm Studios' senior producer Adam Urbano believes the team has learnt enough from its previous game, Mortal Kombat 9, that they might just be able to convince people.

"On one end of the spectrum," said Urbano in an interview with NowGamer, "we learned what works, and on the other, what not to mess with."

"We’re retaining a lot of the key features like the amazing 3D graphics set on a 2D fighting plane, the need for tournament-level depth, and the success of having a ton of content available for players of all experience levels."

Urbano then added, "We’re planning to have more content in Injustice than we had in MK9."

There's much more to it than that, however. As games quickly turn into services, Urbano understands that the way content is provided is just as important as how much content there is.

"We also paid a lot of attention to the things we know we need to improve. We weren’t happy with how we handled ”compatibility packs” for DLC play, so we have a whole new system that ensures all players get the content they need.

"We also spent two years focused on netplay, realizing that nothing matters more for network play than launching with solid, great fundamental netcode."

A fighter with poor netcode is easily forgotten, so it's good to hear Injustice won't suffer with that.
