Não encontro grandes detalhes se as dies serão iguais (Eles não têm todos os SKUs que a Intel tem) e que alterações são feitas para suportar estes HSDIMM, etc.
 
On the server side, now that Sapphire Rapids has launched, Intel is aiming to make up for lost time. The official server schedule is for Emerald Rapids to launch in the second half of this year, delivering a modest update to Intel’s Rapids platform. Emerald Rapids is an Intel 7 part like Sapphire, so for better and for worse, Intel won’t have the benefit of a new process node here – or the complexities of trying to bring up a large server part on such a node. Meanwhile Granite Rapids and Sierra Forest, which are both slated to be built on the Intel 3 process, remain on the schedule for 2024.

Otherwise, while the product updates tucked into Intel’s quarterly earnings are a fairly high-level overview of what’s to come, it’s notable that Intel doesn’t have anything new to talk about from their up-and-coming AXG GPU group. The last news on Rialto Bridge, Intel’s second-generation HPC accelerator, was that it wouldn’t start sampling until this year – so it’s unclear at best whether it will be shipping in any capacity this year. Similarly, the Battlemage architecture for client GPUs seems to be straddling the line between 2023 and 2024.

O Emerald Rapids não deverá passar de um pequeno update ao Sapphire Rapids e não me parece que irá alterar nada.
A Intel tem mesmo que fazer tudo para não deixar deslizar os lançamentos do Granite Rapids e do Sierra Forest, porque se deixar deslizar, cada vez será mais complicado apanhar o comboio da AMD. Quanto mais gerações a AMD liderar por grande margem, mais clientes vão ter confiança em apostar nos Epyc.

Pouco ou nenhum feedback, a nível de GPUs, para Datacenter e Clientes, passa a ideia que, ou não é prioridade, ou haverá cortes.

Parece-me que 2023 será ainda pior a nível de resultados e que será uma "travessia no deserto", na maior parte dos produtos.


Em notícias mais positivas, Geekbench 5 do Intel Xeon W9-3495X, um processador com 56 Cores, para o mercado Workstation.
1.9 Ghz Clock Base e 4.6 Ghz Turbo. Neste Benchmark, parece manter 3.2 Ghz de forma constante.

O Threadripper Pro 5995X parece-me que anda pelos 1450 a 1550 em Single Core e os 40000 a 44000 em Multi Core. Esperava uma performance melhor, em Single Core, destes Sapphire Rapids para Workstations.

Arranque de um sistema com 16 Sapphire Rapids de 60 Cores. Isto é, um sistema com 960 Cores/1920 Threads.
Sendo da HP, é provável que seja a próxima geração dos HP Superdome.

O post é um comentário a um patch para o Kernel Linux, para inicialização dos processadores em paralelo, em vez de ser em série. A inicialização, neste sistema, passou de 71 segundos para 14 segundos.

Interessante que até terá um Livestream. Para este segmento e para uma plataforma que já está no mercado, não é habitual. Parece-me que a Intel está confiante, nos Sapphire Rapids, para este segmento. Talvez porque a AMD, quase que abandonou os Threadrippers.

2 portas de rede 10 Gbit + 1 2.5 Gbit parece-me muito exagerado. Dá mais ideia que estão a atirar coisas para justificar o preço.
De resto, parece-me ok.
 
2x10Gbps dá jeito para ou fazer link aggregation para 20Gbps ou então para failover.

Já a de 2.5Gbps quanto muito ou fica para failover quando usado o link aggregation com as duas 10Gbps ou então para ligar a outra subnet local. Serão casos um pouco nicho mas de alguma coisa poderá servir.

Failover é um dos modos de Link Aggregation. Não sei se haverá muitas pessoas com Link Aggregation 10 Gbit no PC, mesmo no mercado Workstation, mas sim, há sempre essa hipótese.

Eu lembro-me de ver um artigo, de alguém na Suíça com Internet a 10 Gbit, que tinha uma board Workstation como Router. Há um pequeno problema. Tanto nesse artigo, como do que tenho visto em ligações Internet 10 Gbit, o conector é SFP+, por isso aquelas 2 portas 10 Gbit ou a Porta 2.5 Gbit, RJ45 não ajudam muito.

Mas no fundo, quantos compradores daquela Board vão usar 3 portas de rede Wired? E dessas, com a quantidade de Lanes Pci-Ex que aquela Board tem, não poderia comprar uma placa em separado?
Parece-me um caso em que a maior parte dos compradores, preferia ter menos 1 ou 2 portas e pagar menos pela Board. :)

Nos últimos tempos, especialmente em Boards Servidores, que não são muito diferentes destas, o que tem acontecido é Boards serem lançadas sem LANs integradas na Motherboard e depois têm 1 ou mais Slots OCP, onde o cliente tem a flexibilidade de colocar o que lhe der mais jeito.

Tem 5x EPS/PCIE 8 pins + 2x ATX24 pins
A Sage ainda tem um conector de Power 6 Pins entre as portas SlimSAS e SATA, para alimentar os Slots Pci-Ex. :D

Alguém me corrija, mas, só nos 5 conectores de 8 Pins estão 750W, certo? Que raio se vai colocar na Board, para serem precisos 750W só naqueles conectores (Sem contar com os ATX24, conector 6 Pins e entradas de Power independentes nas Gráficas)?
São boards totalmente overkill, basicamente mete o máximo que se pode colocar tudo... E mesmo assim quase não tem thunderbolt...
Não têm Thunderbolt, não têm Wireless, mas têm um slot MicroSD interno. :D

Pode dar jeito para um Sistema Operativo que seja mais "Embedded", mas não poderiam ter colocado Thunderbolt e Wireless (Slot M.2 2242 + Antenas) e retirado outras coisas menos importantes?

A AST2600 suporta Displayport. Neste mercado faria mais sentido que VGA.

Atenção que tens tanto adaptadores de rj45 para SFP+ como routers 10Gbps que suportam link aggregation. O serve the home mostrou um relativamente barato e fanless recentemente.

E trocas o transceiver SFP+ do ISP? Naquele caso, o Router é o computador. O transceiver SFP+ que vem do ISP liga ao computador a fazer de Router.
Sem ser trocando o transceiver, não estou a ver como é que o ligas a uma porta RJ45, sem ser colocando um Switch com portas SFP+ e RJ45 pelo meio.

Certo, mas nesse cenário, na rede interna com 10 Gbit, quantas pessoas vão ter o PC ligado ao Router com Link Aggregation? No uplink vejo ser usado. Na ligação a PCs, já me parece menos provável.




Já agora, para quem tiver curiosidade, encontrei o tal artigo. Enganei-me num ponto. A pessoa passou para um PC a fazer de Router, na passagem da Internet de 10 Gbit para 25 Gbit e não quando passou de Gigabit para 10 Gbit. :D
Nesse cenário, o conector do uplink nem pode ser SFP+. É SFP28. Depois para a rede interna, a 10 Gbit, é que usou uma placa de rede com 4 Lans SFP+.

As boards da supermicro são bem diferentes das asrock e asus
- VRM bem menor, como raio aquilo suporta cpus de 420w??? o VRM da asus tem 3x mais componentes e espaço ocupado.
- "apenas" 2 EPS (3X na placa maior) e 1x 24 pins.
