Warhorse Studios Brings the Open World to the Old World with Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Nearly 18 months after its inception, independent, Czech, video game development house Warhorse Studios today announced details of its debut title, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Coming to PC and next-gen consoles in 2015, the game is an open world, action-adventure, role-playing game featuring blockbuster production values, a nonlinear story and revolutionary, first-person melee combat.

Leveraging decades of combined experience in AAA game development, including titles in the Mafia, Crysis, ArmA and Operation Flashpoint franchises, the creative talent powering Warhorse Studios is well-versed in pushing the boundaries of RPG storytelling in sprawling, immersive environments. “The team’s ambition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is growing this ever-maturing sandbox genre in a believable, real-world context and scope,” remarked studio Creative Director Dan Vávra. “To that end, we’re harnessing CryENGINE®3, nonlinear narrative, varied freedom in character progression, and a consequence-laden living world in ways that have never been possible until now.”

Rooted within the Holy Roman Empire during the late Middle Ages, Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises a first-person seat to a harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne. As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they’ll grapple with a range of period-accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story. Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones - it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare.

Further details for Kingdom Come: Deliverance will be released on January 20, 2014.

The Game and Its Features

A first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. A humble, young blacksmith loses everything to war. As he tries to fulfill the dying wish of his father, Fate drags him into the thick of a conspiracy to save a kidnapped king and stop a bloody conflict. You will wander the world, fighting as a knight, lurking in the shadows as a rogue, or using the bard’s charm to persuade people to your cause. You will dive deep into a sweeping, epic, nonlinear story from Daniel Vávra, an award-winning designer from the Mafia series. Our unique, first-person combat system lets you wield sword or bow in both one-on-one skirmishes and large-scale battles. All of this - and more - brought to life beautifully with next-gen visuals delivered via Cryengine.

Summary

• Planned platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4, Mac, Linux

• Release date: Q4, 2015 on PC, Max and Linux

• Approx. gameplay time: 30 hours (Act 1), 70+ hours (all 3 acts)

Features

• Non-linear story lets you choose between being a villain or a savior. Every quest can be solved in multiple ways.

• A revolutionary combat system based on inverse kinematics, the only one of its kind to offer a rich, authentic yet easy-to-control, first-person melee experience. Based on actual 15th century fighting techniques and designed in cooperation with medieval martial arts experts.

• Improve your character. Different play styles - warrior, rogue or bard - can be mixed and matched as you see fit. You can develop your skills, earn new perks, and fine-tune your equipment.

• Large realistic, medieval-themed, open world landscape covering 3.5 square miles and 30 hours of gameplay (in first act, out of 3 total).

• Lead the charge in enormous, open field battles and sieges. You are no superhero. If you’re going to take on an army of enemies, you better find one of your own to back you up.

• Take a trip through the Middle Ages: Traverse sprawling cities, magnificent castles, towering, dark forests, and muck-strewn villages.

• Discover this huge world from horseback or on foot. If you can see it, you can visit it.

• A dynamic world comes alive. Every inhabitant plays a role in their communities, and as night follows day, you can watch people work, help them when needed, or try to interfere in their routine and see what happens.

• Build relationships with characters, become a criminal or a local hero, seduce local women, threaten your enemies or pardon vanquished opponents.

• Create your own weapons, cook, brew up potions, or dig around for silver. All crafting occurs in-game, using clever mini-games, rather than boring, soulless menus.

Kingdom Come Promises ‘A Different Kind Of RPG’

A hyper-detailed historical RPG from the main folks behind Mafia? Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

Ahem. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a nonlinear role-player set in the dying days of the Holy Roman Empire, and it features precisely zero monsters, magic, or mythical overtones. Instead, the focus is on accuracy, and who better to head up that effort than the former director of Mafia and Mafia II? Developer Warhorse is made up of vets from 2K Czech and Arma powerhouse Bohemia, so expect obsessive attention to detail.

Despite a relative lack of information, there’s incredible promise here. The pedigree alone takes me back to my days of languidly drifting down Mafia II’s snow-speckled highways, breathing in the smoggy, foggy life of the setting (this despite the fact that the game itself was only sort of decent), and the prospect of a non-fantasy open-world medieval RPG has me chomping at the bit.

Kotaku thrust its noble hands into the murky depths of game development, and it emerged with a bit more info. Here are the key takeaways:

“As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they’ll grapple with a range of period- accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story. Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones – it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare.”

Combat, meanwhile, will apparently be first-person and “revolutionary” in some form or fashion. Maybe your knight will have three arms instead of two. Or perhaps he’ll be some kind of million-perspective-endowed fly mutant. The possibilities are endless.

Kingdom Come is set to (kingdom) come out in 2015, which is painfully long from now. The game’s been in development for a year-and-a-half, so there’s a decent amount of meat on its bones already. But then, this is clearly an undertaking of colossal ambition, so Warhorse can take all the time it needs. They have my permission, which is clearly something they would care about for some reason.

Acabei de ver uma noticia deste jogo na Eurogamer. Vou deixar aqui alguns links:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance parece fantástico

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294225970/kingdom-come-deliverance

http://kingdomcomerpg.com/

EXTENDED GAMEPLAY TRAILER (all in-game footage) :wow:

Mega artigo Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Kingdom Come: Deliverance has kind of a silly name, but it’s one heck of an intriguing prospect. The hyper-detailed historical RPG heralds from a small army of developers who once steered the creation of Mafia and Arma, among many others.
Despite coming from a relatively small team by triple-A standards, the game’s production values are through the roof, and the dev team really wants it all: Skyrim-like exploration, a Mount and Blade-style world, entirely procedural combat, and choice reactivity inspired by The Witcher. Can Warhorse pull it off? I checked out an early build of the game and talked extensively with project director Daniel Vávra to find out if they’re on the right track....
