Eis que chega mais um projecto BOINC cuja descrição é a seguinte:

Magnetism@home is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to explore the equlibrium, metastable and transient magnetization patterns (first and foremost in nano-scale magnetic elements and their arrays, but later other systems may be considered). You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.

(Magnetism@home é um projecto de pesquisa que usa computadores ligados entre si através da internet para explorar o equilíbrio, "metastable" e padrões de magnetização transiente)

Project started
The server is set up. It is working, but the pages still need to be edited.

Test application
Test application runs well. Now on to porting the real application.

Magnetism a 9 de Junho:

First real computation started.
For the start, let us calculate the magnetostatic energy of low-energy magnetic configurations in circular cylidrical nano-element. The resolution is not very high yet, but will be increased as more people join. Still it is not clear how BOINC will cope with dynamic IP address changes. If this is not a problem, announcement to a wider audience will be made.

Pessoal, fujam deste projecto. Já teve valores porreiros, mas agora anda bastante diferente e já o vi a puxar a 300.000 K e neste preciso momento está quase nos 540.000 K. Tive que suspender duas das três WUs porque o PC já estava a ficar bem lento...
