January 15, 2004 - In North America, software can now be purchased from a kiosk, similar to an ATM. CompUSA, one of the leading computer store chains in North America, expect the new "SoftwareToGo"(http://www.softwaretogo.com/products.asp)
to be a success. The first software kiosks have already been installed. The procedure is simple: at a terminal, customers select the software they want from a software catalog currently offering 1,200 titles. After purchase, the program is burned to CD-ROM. The process takes about four minutes, after which the customer can take the CD-ROM home, along with the instructions, serial number, Certificate of Authority and user manual (in PDF format).
