HARD DRIVE manufacturer Maxtor said it is sampling large capacity Ultra 320 SCSI drives to its PC customers, with general availability likely in the third quarter of this year.
The drives come in two types - the Atlas 10K V and the Atlas 15K II.

The 10K drives will have capacities of 73GB, 147GB and 300GB and have seek times of four ms. The 15K II come in capacities of 36GB, 73GB and 147GB, and seek times of three ms. Both sets of drives include an 8MB cache buffer.

Both sets of drives include features which regulate temperature, vibration and noise which Maxtor claims will optimise their performance. µ
