By INQUIRER staff: terça-feira 15 novembro 2005, 11:10 MERCURY Computer Systems will show off a Cell BE product at the Supercomputer show today. The system, rather naffly called Turismo van include four Cell BE processors, has dual 4X Infiniband support, and mutiple Gigabit Ethernet ports. It also offers a 16X PCI Express interconnect, and has a Yellow Dog Linux board support package from Terra Soft. The system, claimed the firm, is designed to deliver 800 GigaFLOPS for high end rendering and imaging, and will also be suitable for dealing with the kind of images hospitals hold. The firm said that four of these boxes in a 5U configuration will deliver a peak performance of 3.2 single precision TeraFLOPS and over 25 TeraFLOPS in a six foot rack. Mercury is working with IBM to integrate the Cerll chips into a number of other markets including defence, aerospace, semiconductor testing and other specialised markets.
