The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024 Broadcast returns on Thursday, September 26 at 7pm JST / 3am Pacific / 6am Eastern / 11am UK. We warmly welcome players around the world to tune in as we share content from Xbox Game Studios, Activision, Blizzard Entertainment, and Bethesda. We'll also showcase an exciting lineup of games from third-party partners primarily based in Japan and across Asia, including games coming to Xbox Game Pass.

We chose Steam Early Access for two main reasons: first, it offers the ideal space for a studio like ours to gather feedback and iterate quickly — a process fully supported by Xbox, as it ensures the best experience for players. Second, starting with Steam helps us build a solid foundation before expanding to the larger, global audience that comes with Xbox Game Preview.
We’ve seen the value of player-driven development before, especially with Banner Saga, where early backers helped shape the game. This time, we’re taking it even further, making Steam Early Access a deliberate and strategic starting point. Steam allows us to build a meaningful relationship with our core, invested players, gathering feedback that will ensure Towerborne’s evolution is guided by player experiences. This phased approach isn’t about holding anything back—it’s about refining Towerborne to be as polished, fun, and content-rich as possible when we’re ready to release the full game.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer announced the layoffs to employees in an internal memo this morning, seen by The Verge. The cuts are related to the Activision Blizzard deal, and Spencer makes it clear in his email that “no games, devices or experiences are being cancelled” and no studios are being closed as part of the layoffs today.
“As part of aligning our post-acquisition team structure and managing our business, we have made the decision to eliminate approximately 650 roles across Microsoft Gaming — mostly corporate and supporting functions — to organize our business for long term success,” says Spencer.
A Microsoft é gigante.
