Windows XP is looking like the operating system that will outlive us all with Microsoft now promising to provide security patches and updates for it until April 2014. The full 13 years of support can be partially "blamed" on the increasing popularity of low-cost PCs which feature components that are not ideal for the running of Microsoft's latest OS, Windows Vista but go great with XP.
Windows XP Home will continue to be sold with netbooks and nettops until June 2010 so the 2014 support time line is a reasonable choice made by the Redmond IT company. Now how about that Windows 7?
