"Microsoft will make Windows Defender Beta 2 available for Windows 2000, XP, 2003, R2, Vista and LH server. Beta 2 will be released in February / March. 64 bit versions will be included in Vista / LH Server x64 editions and for XP and 2003 x64 editions.

Windows Defender will be configurable via Group Policies, and defender updates will appear on WSUS. Defender updates will be released as needed, from few times a day to minimum once a week through (automatic) Windows Update infrastructure.

Beta 2 will have significant changes according to the chat transcript held by the Windows Defender team. "

Yesterday Microsoft released Windows Defender Beta 2, formerly Windows Anti-Spyware, and it's now available for download from Microsoft. The new version of the anti-spyware software features a redesigned and simplified UI, a new spyware detection engine, and the ability to run without administrator privileges. "Windows Defender" parece-me um nome bastante abrangente, nao me admirava se a versao final fosse uma suite completa (Antispyware+Antivirus+Firewall) :P

Ainda nao testei, pelo menos no aspecto parece ja ser diferente do Antispyware da Giant :D
 
Não consigo instalar. Dá 1 erro, (1609). Desinstalei 1º o MS antispy, e tenho o winxp original em pt. Algum sabe o que é este erro?

live protection sounds good... mas isso implica mais um processo 24/7 a comer recursos... (nao deve ser grande promble mas sou um bocado paranoico com isso!)

Alguem me pode dar a opiniao sobre o "Windows Defender"? (eu sei que pertence aos "animais" mas tem nome de jeep e isso trz bom "Karma"...)

ainda nao instalei.. mas tenho para mim que é uma versão pesada do meu McAfee Security Center :/:/ se tiver errado avisem-me..
 
Já usei em tempos o Beta 1 da microsoft actualmente com o nome de Defender, updates regulares, scan rapido, e auto-protect gostei bastante ;)

pois... iso é o beta 1, e o 2?? ja o tenho á umas semanas e n percebo o k ta aki a fazer (sim, e ta activo). simplesment n faz nada de nada nem alerta pas mudanças do registo enkanto k o 1 o fazia. a n ser k seja o meu k ta marado mas gostei mil vezes mais do beta 1.

Ele (aparentemente) faz as coisas sozinho.
Se consultarmos o "history" tem accoes registadas...
Serve tambem de firewall (o que esperava é que me dessem feedback sobre essa funcão)!
Tambem permite controlar (julgo eu) os programas de arranque e saber mais informacoes sobre os programas ou aplicativos a serem executados no momento tal como os que se conectam a net.
No entanto um grande obrigado desde ja!
