The Red Wings, a once honorable forthcoming military unit wielding powerful majestic airships, has been commanded by the kingdom of Baron to snare and obtain the magical Crystals of Earth by any means necessary. The head of the Red Wings, a highly ranked Dark Knight, is demoted for questioning the barbaric nature of these attacks. Confused and astonished at this unorthodox action, he questions his loyalty.

Meanwhile, the world is slowly being engulfed in monster attacks for an unknown reason. And elsewhere, a being slowly manipulates the others for his own ends, masterminding every move, while others who know the truth await a hero's arrival, a holy knight to bring truth to the prophecies of old.

Thus begins the legendary journey of Cecil and his companions. Together with his friends, both new and old, one man vows to cast away the darkness within his soul in order to find the truth long denied him and to defeat the greatest evil of all.
Final Fantasy IV on the way to NA

North American DS owners get ready! Final Fantasy 4 is being localised as we speak and is on the way to a store near you!

How soon will it reach these stores? Well Nintendo Power is reporting that retro/remake fans will get the chance to try this title in English in July, 2008.

No exact date as of yet, but expect those details to be disclosed before the month is out.

Final Fantasy 4 DS, a remake of the original 1992 title by Matrix Software, the team that dealt with the FF3 remake, was released on December 20, 2007 in Japan. It was followed by massive success in terms of critical acclaim and sales. The game is now being translated into English by Square USA, and will release first across North America.

Stay tuned for more updates.

More details regarding FFIV DS

Takashi Tokita, director of the original SNES classic, has spoken further with Nintendo Power regarding the DS remake of his classic!

The following excerpts are courtesy of NeoGAF and Forever Fantasy, and have been extracted from Tokita's interview.

- This is by far the most difficult version of Final Fantasy 4.

- Useless abilities from the original version (Cry, Pray, etc) have been changed significantly to make them more useful.

- The team has addressed every criticism of the Final Fantasy 3 remake: More detailed character, loading times, wider set of abilities, etc.

- Bosses were all rebalanced, so people who played the older versions won't be able to use "tricks" to beat them easily.

- New auto-battle system: You assign a single action for each character and they repeatedly carry out that move.

- Lunar Ruins from FF4 Advance is not included, however a New Game+ mode with additional augments and new optional bosses has been added.

- Summons are called Eidolons, as a tribute to Final Fantasy 9 fans.

- Confirmed: Only 25% of the original story was used due to space limitations with the original SNES version. The new DS remake expands upon this story, including more of the originally devised plot.

- Asano thinks creating old-school RPG's with present-day technology is going well, and Square Enix shouldn't limit themselves to just remakes.

Quanto a noticias acerca do jogo

Final Fantasy IV coming in July

Did you miss the date for Final Fantasy IV in the last issue of Nintendo Power? We did, and so did many others; we were all too busy reading the incredible ten page spread on the game to look at the chart on page 18. Now RPGFan is also reporting that the game will ship this July, so it should be only a matter of time before Square Enix confirms the release. At this rate, we can expect Final Fantasy VI (also known as the one we're waiting for on the DS) in July of 2009. Can we get on that, guys? Not that we aren't excited about Final Fantasy IV (we are!), we're just ... uh ... looking ahead.
