DS Spore Creatures (EA, Foundation 9)

Ray Almeda, of AMN, sat down with the Spore creator yesterday evening and asked if gamers would be able to play the upcoming title on the DS (and Sony's handheld...thing), with which he responded "Yes...definitely."

Will's past attempts in gaming have been nothing but gold, with his Simcity and The Sims franchises being easily accessible to people in all walks of life (heck, some of my assignments back in middle school were to build fully-functioning cities in Simcity) and pushed the envelope of conventional game design. It's no wonder that so many eyes are on him and his upcoming project. We just hope Spore on the DS will be WiFi compatible in some way.

Spore is currently slated for a 2007 release.

espero k sejam alguma coisa de jeito, já se sabe que a DS não pode fazer de forma alguma algo pareçido com a versão do PC... e pelo que foi avançado nem é a intenção, agora a ver se não são spinoff's "pouco importantes" e claro... a ver se usam o Wi-Fi algum tipo de conectividade com a versão PC seria fantastico, por exemplo... compatibilidade de espécies criadas, como foi falado na outra thread.

O que me preocupa é que a DS não dá muito para um jogo assim (em gráficos e poder de processamento) mas que pode ser feito pode. Mas preferia um Sim City.

Spore Coming to DS

[UPDATE] During Electronic Arts’ quarterly conference call, the company confirmed that the hotly anticipated PC game Spore is also coming to the Nintendo DS; EA “all over” Wii and DS with My Sims for both platforms and SimCity for DS.

Update: Added comments from EA CEO.

Image“We have shifted and acquired resources and are attacking these successful platforms,” said EA CFO Warren Jenson, referring to Nintendo’s platforms.

My Sims will be coming to both the DS and the Wii, and SimCity will also be coming to the DS.

Formerly a PC-only release, a version of Spore will be heading to the DS. No release dates or other details were given outside of the confirmation of the upcoming games.

In the past, Spore creator and Maxis chief designer Will Wright had expressed interest in bringing Spore to the DS and other platforms.

Jenson also said that more EA Sports titles will be making their way to Nintendo platforms.

“In short, we are on it,” Jenson said regarding DS and Wii support.

Spore confirmado na DS

Just under a year ago, a job listing revealed that Electronic Arts was hiring developers for a portable version of Spore, Will Wright's forthcoming evolutionary game. Though the listing was clearly for "game systems and content for SPORE Handheld title," it did not say whether it would follow The Sims 2's lead and come to both the PSP and the DS.
Today during the conference call following Electronics Arts' third-quarter earnings report, executives from the publisher finally confirmed that Spore is coming to the DS as well as the PC. Speaking to analysts, EA CFO Warren Jenson said, "[With] Spore, we will be not only focusing on the PC and online; we are launching this innovative experience on the NDS." The game will be released sometime during EA's next fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2008.
Though no further details on the DS version of Spore were disclosed, DS fans got some other good news. The Wii version of the Sims, which features a more cartoony visual style, will be ported to the dual-screen handheld. Both games will go by the moniker My Sims and will also be released sometime during EA's coming fiscal year.

Spore Details Unearthed

The DS version will have its own visual style.
Today Electronic Arts announced (perhaps surprisingly) that Spore will ship September 7, 2008 simultaneously for PC, Mac, and DS. Newsweek's Level Up blog has secured more information on what the portable version of the high-concept game will be like.

Spore on the DS will be a unique experience that captures the essence of what the PC game is all about: creativity, exploration, sharing, and collecting. Developer Maxis has taken advantage of the unique features of Nintendo's handheld like the stylus and local/wi-fi connectivity. The portable game will be focusing on the creature phase of Spore, and will include its own creator called Spore Creatures. Players make a beast, then evolve it by making friends and enemies, exploring the galaxy, and eventually saving their home world. The Spore Species Guide will keep track of all the animals you encounter along the way. Creators can trade their spawn with other users. Once traded, they will continue to move to other users as more barters are made.

To distinguish Spore DS from other versions, Maxis has given it its own visual style inspired by Japanese flat rod puppets and shadow box art. A "simpler" version of Spore, players will be able to focus on their unique creations.

Assim à primeira vista diria que para variar estragaram todo na versão DS e temo que a versão wii venha a ser mais uma palhaçada como as versões dos the sims para wii... Ai esta EA, nunca muda....

Spore chegará primeiro na Europa

A Electronic Arts anunciou hoje que o jogo de DS Spore Creatures será lançado na Europa no dia 5 de setembro - ou seja, dois dias antes do lançamento americano. Segundo a empresa, as versões de computadores e celulares do jogo também serão lançadas no continente no mesmo dia, mas nada foi dito sobre a versão de Wii, que, segundo Will Wright, ainda está em estágio inicial de desenvolvimento, e será diferente das outras versões.

mas nada foi dito sobre a versão de Wii, que, segundo Will Wright, ainda está em estágio inicial de desenvolvimento, e será diferente das outras versões.

Apesar de já estar à espera, isto é uma profunda desilusão


Será que vou ter que fazer um upgrade ao pc (comprar um novo) por causa deste jogo?

FDX eu não quero um MySpore como o da ds, quero o spore!

All in all, Spore Creatures is a very handsome package and was a pleasant surprise – unique and adept, it will serve as both an accompaniment to the main Spore experience as well as providing the DS with an exceptionally polished action adventure.
