Xbox New Xbox 360 update is just the start, remote downloads coming

Marc Whitten has revealed that the Xbox 360 update is just the beginning of the social networking features that Microsoft want to roll out. He noted that in future updates we can expect the capability to switch on the Xbox 360 from any PC and download content to it remote it.

Speaking to OXM at E3, Marc Whitten said that the new update is "only the beginning" of the social networking features that Microsoft want to deploy.

He also said that we can expect future updates to include the ability to switch on your Xbox from any PC and download content to it remotely - "at some point in the future you'll hear more from us about that."

Asked if we'd ever be able to copy DVDs to the hard drive like the newly-added game install process, he said that was an "evil world" and he didn't fancy talking to the lawyers about making it happen.

Quando li essa notícia pensei que ao referir "remote downloads" seria a possibilidade de comprar o jogo e fazer download para o HDD, isso sim seria fantástico, mas essa parte de fazer downloads pelo pc e transportar para a xbox 360 tb nao é mau.

Não é bem isso... Será possível a partir do PC ligar a consola remotamente e seleccionar conteúdos que a consola descarregará. Para tal está a ser desenhada uma zona no XBox.com(?) que irá ter todos os conteúdos disponiveis no Marketplace.

Penso que será o futuro, tal e qual nos PC (Steam), mas ainda não deve ser nesta geração.
Reduziria os preços dos jogos porque acabava a mama dos intermediários.
