BioWare: New Game Announcement at E3

In an interview with Firing Squad, BioWare commented on recent developments with Mass Effect, and how the studio is doing in general. The most intriguing bit of information is news that we might see one or two more titles from the KOTOR developer along with Mass Effect at E3... FiringSquad: What other hints can you give us about upcoming projects at BioWare?

Ray Muzyka: We’re looking forward to announcing details about our new MMO being developed in BioWare Austin in the near future. We also have an unannounced surprise or two in the works which we will also be sharing at E3 2006, in addition to showing Mass Effect there. The Dragon Age team is hard at work and we’re very excited about how the game is looking so far!

Now lets combine that quote with a quote from GameStop, in an interview on November 11th: "BioWare definitely plans to continue the Jade Empire franchise," reads one of Muzyka's responses. "The Jade team did a great job with the first game in that series; we have great teams working on all of our games here. We've also said in the past that we're working on not just one, but two Xbox 360 titles. Enough said"

Seems a new Jade Empire is extremely likley!

Special Edition FIFA 2006 Xbox 360
In preparation for the FIFA World Cup this year, Microsoft is releasing a special edition Xbox 360.

The package contains everything an original Xbox 360 includes, in addition to a sporty Adidas Japan blue faceplate, an Adidas Japan blue bandanna, and a copy of 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. 10,000 units are expected to come to Japan. Unfortunately, it seems as if this special package may not reach the United States or Europe. It hits japan April 27th and expected to cost around $430. Hopefully, this move will give Microsoft a boost in the somewhat troubled Japanese market.

Project Gotham Racing 3 Expansion Dated
The long-awaited expansion pack for PGR3 racing on the Xbox360 has a date. April 17 will be the day that new tracks and cars will be available for download over XBox Live. For the privledge of downloading this booster pack you will have to pay 400 MS points, roughly $4 dollars.

Oblivion Breaks Sales Record
2K Games and Bethesda Software have announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has sold in excess of 1.7 million copies on Xbox 360 and PC since its release on March 20th.

In addition, the NPD Group have announced that the title is the "fastest selling Xbox 360 title" since the console launch back in November.

To top it all off, Oblivion has been announced as the best selling PC title in North America, the UK, France and Germany and the Special Edition is just behind it.

No Crysis on Next-Gen Consoles
Crysis, a new game from the developers of FarCry, recently hit big in the news with new movies and media showing off amazing graphics and gameplay unlike anything ever seen in video games. It was only announced for PC, but rumors suggested that a port to the 360 or PS3 might be possible.

It seems, however, those rumors are not true. According to an interview at Computerandvideogames.com with Cevat Yerli, CEO/President of the company, its not going to happen anytime soon.

This is a contridiction from previous statements from the developers, and it is said that the game may be coming out for consoles, but if you want to play it first, it seems you'll not a PC.

More Halo and GTA Rumours

Last month we reported a rumour from an issue of Game Informer that stated Halo 3 will be subtitled Forerunner. Well it seems that in the latest issue, GI is sticking by those rumours and has revealed a couple more intriguing rumours.

A Halo MMO? GTA to be a 360 Exclusive? Sounds good to me, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Microsoft Teams Up With Tri-Ace

News of an arcade-style shooter from Square Enix was probably somewhat of a surprise for those expecting a big Japanese-style RPG from the publisher, but all was not lost. At its Xbox 360 Media Briefing event today in Tokyo, Microsoft announced that respected RPG maker Tri-Ace is developing an exclusive RPG for the Xbox 360. The game is being developed in conjunction with Microsoft Game Studios and will presumably be released under the Microsoft publishing brand.

Tri-Ace president Yoshiharu Gotanda took the stage at the event to talk a little about the title, for which he's serving as producer. Sadly, he was unable to reveal too much, but he did say that we can expect a strong realtime element to the game; in fact, "realtime" is one of the game's key words.
PlayStation RPG fanatics will recognize Tri-Ace as the developer behind Square Enix's Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean and Radiata Stories. The developer has a hit-filled legacy, but Gotanda noted that he's doing his best to make sure that this new title ends up being the best Tri-Ace game ever. A name was not given for the game, so we're going to have to refer to it as Tri-Ace RPG for now.

So what games can we expect at E3?

So the big E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is coming up soon, where press get together, developers show off there games and booth babes are covered up. Life’s just not fair.

As you might have guessed this writer isn't going to E3 because of lack of money. You can thank the Xbox 360 and all the games that came out in March for that.

Xbox Live Arcade to get MAME and SEGA games?
Posted Apr 21, 2006 at 11:51AM by Andy L.

Listed in: Xbox 360 Live Arcade, Rumors An anonymous Microsoft worker has revealed that MAME and SEGA games are making their way to the Xbox Live Arcade. The tipster stated that the XBLA is going to "smash Nintendo's Virtual Console to pieces" with the help of MAME. Microsoft might be releasing a legal MAME emulator where gamers can pay to get their favorite retro game packs. The source also mentioned that SEGA will be hopping on the XBLA bandwagon, although he didn't say what exactly they would be bringing. All of this is strictly rumors just for now, but it seems like it would be a great business move for all parties involved. The XBLA has brought in loads of money, especially from titles like Geometry Wars, so I don't see why SEGA or MAME would seem unreasonable.

Jump it up!Xbox 360 to get CPU upgrade in 2007
Posted Apr 21, 2006 at 09:43AM by Andy L.

Listed in: News Microsoft and Chartered Semiconductor, the manufacture of the Xbox 360's CPU, released a joint announcement declaring that the console's processor will receive an upgrade in 2007. The new chip's design will use a 65nm manufacturing process instead of 90nm, which will provide a smaller heat output because less power will be used. Although the new CPU isn't expected to have any performance increases because there would be too many compatibility issues, this will hopefully solve many overheating issues. After the 360's launch many gamers were distraught when they saw their red ring of light appear, but luckily their cries aren't going unheard.
