Nintendo DS expected to outship Sony PSP by as much as 30% this year

As of October 21, 2005, the PlayStation Portable had shipped 10 million units worldwide. Sony was expecting a large boost in sales by the end of the year with the creation of the PlayStation Portable Giga Pack, which debuted at the start of the holiday season. By hitting 10 million units shipped in 10 months it marked the "fastest penetration speed" of any PlayStation platform.[5] By December 31, 2005 15 million units had been shipped.

Ao passo que a DS:
spong disse:
SPOnG yesterday reported that over 10 million Nintendo DS’s - otherwise known as the Kiddy-Crack Wonder Toy - have so far been sold worldwide since the console’s launch late in 2004.

Well, we’ve just been contacted by Nintendo to correct us on this. It seems that quite a few more than 10 million have been sold so far. European sales of over 3.5 million DS units combined with the 4 million DS units sold in the US and more than 5 million sold in Japan actually brings the worldwide total closer to 13 million.
Este artigo é de 5 de Janeiro de 2006.

Mais à frente:
spong disse:
Compare these astounding figures with the worldwide sales of the PSP, which is in the region of 7 million units, and you can see that the DS has nearly sold at a rate of 2 to 1 against Sony’s machine, which is graphically superior but is still to wow both hardcore and casual gamers with some must-have games.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that the cumulative production shipment of its PlayStation®Portable (PSP®) handheld entertainment player had reached 10 million units worldwide, as of October 21st, 2005. Shipment of 10 million units within 10 months since launch is the fastest penetration speed in the PlayStation® platforms introduced in the past. Along with the exciting and extensive lineup of software titles for the year-end/New Years peak selling season, shipment of PSP is steadily growing in Japan, North America and Europe.

PlayStation Portable Cumulative Shipment by Territory (as of October 21, 2005)

- Japan (including Asia (*1)) 3.00 million units (launch date: December 12, 2004)
- North America 4.47 million units (launch date: March 24, 2005)
- Europe/PAL 2.53 million units (launch date: September 1, 2005)

Worldwide Shipment: 10.00 million units

(*1) Includes shipment to Asian countries and regions including South Korea.

Pois...

Too bad this is only units shipped, and not units sold (which is far less) - see the Japanese e-magazine called "MediaCreate".

Pois pois...

Well, the Japanese sales figures are available publically through http://www.media-create.com and the total to date sales are tracked at http://www.game-science.com

The US figures are tracked by http://www.npdfunworld.com but not released publically so you'll have to wait for them to leak to various forums. I have saved the DS and PSP numbers for each month and they are as follows:

___---___---___-DS___PSP
Up to March: 1,650,895 618,000
April:___---___- 50,000 351,000
May:___---___--57,000 250,000
June:___---___112,000 294,000
July:___---___ 102,000 202,000
August:___---_103,000 167,000
September:__--164,000 146,000
October:-_--_--136,000 127,000
November:__---370,000 353,000

Total:___-___2,744,895 2,500,000

The DS was released in November 2004 while the PSP was released in March. If you want confirmations on individual numbers you can Google for example "NPD hardware November 2005 370,000 353,000" without the quotation marks. Here's also an image confirming the PSP sales up to September: (look at the bottom)

Sales figures for Europe and the rest of the world are harder to get but you can check out some UK sales here: http://forum.pcvsconsole.com/viewthread.php?tid=17444

UK total as of December 17:
DS 846,000
PSP 668,600

Also, here's a chart tracking French sales for some recent weeks:

Shipments VS Sales... Sales Win! DS Won (2005)! :004:

Eu por acaso tenho uma PSP. Fui vitima do wow initial.
