California-based Vivitek has announced what it claims will be the world's first 1080p LED Home Cinema DLP projector. The H9080FD will be on show at the London CEDIA Expo later this month, but only to industry insiders who get an invite to a nearby hotel location.

LED DLP technology has created a lot of excitement because it seems to overcome many of the disadvantages of single-chip DLP projection. Instead of a rotating colour wheel it will use an innovative LED module, negating the rainbow effect and reducing noise and heat; a sophisticated LED-driving algorithm emulates the function of the colour wheel and dynamic black shutter LED lighting should also give the viewer an impression of a much higher video brightness than a conventional mercury lamp.

The H9080FD is also said to feature an instant on-and-off function thanks to the immediate full brightness response of the LED module.

David Chiu, President of Vivitek, said "This ground-breaking projector brings a powerful, clean, and pure signal for non-distorted, high-quality performance. The brightness and HD imaging are unmatched by any of the other LED units I have seen. Although the H9080FD DLP projector has a brightness specification of only 800 ANSI lumen, the saturated image and 100,000:1 contrast ratio give users the impression of a far higher figure".

The Full HD (1920x1080) projector also claims low-energy and low-power consumption features, a 20,000-hour LED module lifespan provides (up to 10 times longer than a conventional projector lamp) and easy to change bayonet-type lenses to suit the throw distance of the installation required.

Vivitek has appointed RAPESCO AV as its UK distributor for this model and others in the company's product range, but there's no firm information yet on availability dates or prices.

Targeting high-end home cinema, the W30000 combines Full HD 1080p sophisticated cinema performance with the unparalleled advantages of progressive LED technology. Among the world's first to launch an LED projector lineup that includes luxury home cinema, BenQ raises theater ‘wow' to a new level of immersion: an unrivaled 128% NTSC color gamut (compared to the average 55%-80% NTSC of most projectors) complemented by an extreme 100,000:1 contrast ratio underlies exquisite picture quality and razor-sharp definition. LED-produced images are bolder and more deeply saturated across a broader color gamut, which means the W30000 is able to generate vastly more distinct colors, with each color being extraordinarily richer and more vibrant than conventional projectors.

LED also affords 20,000 hours of projection lighting; coupled with BenQ's filter-free DLP design for flawless, never-fade color accuracy, the W30000 provides a near lifetime of enjoyment. Cinematic quality is further supported by BrilliantColor®, DynamicBlack®, 600AL, and Hollywood Quality Video (HQV®). Using Imaging Science Foundation™ calibration standards (ISFccc), each W30000 can be fine-tuned to its unique environment to ensure optimal video performance of various preset applications. Panamorph Lens compatibility further lets users fully duplicate the theater experience with a true widescreen 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

O que gostei mais nestes projectores são as 20.000 horas de vida da lampada.
