These last few month, despite a few releases Nvidia seems like a sleeping giant and it's not certain if and when it wakes up, it will make a big splash and remind us who bought 3Dfx. Now, after a few GeForce 8 series releases the Green Team of Santa Clara is readying family number 9 and it is already know that the GeForce 9600 GT and 9800 GX2 are inbound.

But as the latest rumors say, in addition to there, and the 9800 GTX Nvidia will have something to battle cards powered by the AMD RV770 chip, and it will be the GeForce 9800 GT. As word around Rumorville has it, the 9800 GT will arrive in the March-April time frame, a safer bet being on Q2. There's no word on specs but the use of the 65nm G92 chip has been suggested, in addition to triple SLI support. We think a 55nm chip would be a nice start but Nvidia has the last word. Stick around for more info.

9800GT is a 780i-like product

Do you still remember NVIDIA nForce 780i? It is only a 680i will PCIe 2.0-enable chip BR04.
The 9800GT is the same idea. Our source said it will still using G92. But the card will have two mio connectors for three-way SLI. Maybe the card will also have some difference (core clock ,shader frequency, etc)between the existing G92 video cards but it is certainly that shader processor will not glow up to as high as 192.
Think about NVIDIA's Three-way SLI plan. They launch the Three-way SLI a month before 8800 Ultra's EOL. After 8800 Ultra's death there is no product for you to make a three-Way SLI in their product line up. It is time to have some new product for Three-way SLI! (And we know the only thing GeForce 9800 GX2 can do is Quad SLI.)

lembram-se disto ?? >> http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQ0MCwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

* GeForce 8800 Ultra will be replaced by the GeForce 9800 GX2 in February / March timeframe.

* The GeForce 8800 GTX will be replaced by the GeForce 9800 GTX in February / March timeframe. This card will support Tri-SLI.

* The GeForce 9800 GT should appear in the March / April timeframe.
So as it looks right now, we should not expect anything out of NVIDIA in terms of next-gen technology at least until mid-2008. Don’t be confused by the new “98XX” model numbers as they don’t signify much more than the die shrink to 65nm. You might agree or disagree with this naming scheme, but the entire NVIDIA card market is getting confusing and this might at least help things be a bit not-as-confusing to consumers looking for a newer product, but most likely is being done for the big system builders needing “new” specs for new system builds.

Nop.

Confirmed: 9800GT Will Support 3-Way SLI

Well, really, the title says it all. Everyone buying a 9800GT will get the great and wonderful 3-way SLI technology, should they desire to run three graphics cards in one PC. While the 9800GT does run off of the G92 core, what really sets it apart to allow for three-way SLI is the second SLI connector on each card, and quite a few modifications to the G92 chip. The entire GeForce 9x00 series should be released by the middle of March.

With the launch of the mid-range GeForce 9600 GT marking the debut of Nvidia's GeForce 9-series, graphics card makers have revealed details of the rest of the cards Nvidia is scheduled to launch in the coming months.

At the top-end of the 9-series cards will sit the dual-GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 which will launch on March 11 this year. This will be followed by the GeForce 9800 GTX and 9800 GT between the end of March and beginning of April.

For the mid-range Nvidia will offer the GeForce 9600 GS in May, according the sources.

In June, the company will launch the value-level GeForce 9500 GT based on the G96 graphics core with a reduced 128-bit memory interface. To complete the series, the GeForce 9500 GS will launch in July.

Nvidia's share of the discrete entry-level graphics card market (US$30-90) has shrunk to less than 3%. Therefore, Nvidia will not target this market with 9-series products in the near-term, and instead will promote the increasing performance of its IGP chipsets.
