FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SANTA CLARA, CA—AUGUST 29, 2002—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced the availability of the NVIDIA® Detonator™ 40 unified drivers for the Company’s award-winning suite of desktop, mobile and workstation Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Detonator 40 delivers a robust suite of software applications designed to extend and enhance the visual computing experience, and gives users more control over their environment then ever before.

“Detonator 40 is a member of NVIDIA’s renowned unified driver architecture family, the cornerstone for all of our graphics and multimedia products,” said Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. “Because all of our GPUs are binary compatible, we’re able to deliver new functionality, innovative features and unmatched performance, across our entire family of GPUs with a single driver. No other vendor can offer this kind of flexibility.”

Free of charge, and available for download today at http://www.nvidia.com/drivers, the new Detonator 40 driver features:

nView™ 2.0 multi-display technology to increase productivity and provide the necessary tools to control the way users access and view applications.
NVRotate™, enabling image rotation on today’s advanced flat panel displays.
NVKeystone™, allowing for real-time image correction on portable projectors and heads-up displays
Digital Vibrance Control 2™ (DVC2) allowing users to adjust color controls to achieve accurate, bright colors under all conditions.
In addition to these new, exciting features Detonator 40 also provides up to 25% performance improvement in popular consumer and professional applications.

For applications vendors, Detonator 40 includes a CineFX™ Hardware Emulator that allows developers to create advanced cinematic effects for NVIDIA’s next-generation graphics technologies—but have them rendered on NVIDIA’s current family of GPUs. CineFX is NVIDIA’s next-generation graphics processing architecture—a highly efficient and advanced rendering architecture featuring advanced programmability; high-precision color; dramatically improved performance; support for high-level shading languages; generalized vertex and pixel processing; and high bandwidth to system memory and CPU. For more information on the CineFX architecture, and the hardware emulator, visit http://developer.nvidia.com/.

Detonator 40 also supports OpenGL® and the Microsoft® DirectX® application program interface (API) —allowing developers to create content that fully exposes the hardware features of NVIDIA’s GPUs.

Detonator 40 supports the entire TNT2™, GeForce™, GeForce2, GeForce3, GeForce4 consumer line of GPUs, nForce™ and nForce2™ platform processors, as well as the NVIDIA Quadro™, Quadro2, Quadro4, and Quadro DCC solutions geared for professional workstation users. Through UDA, NVIDIA’s software drivers are compatible with past, present and future NVIDIA GPUs, and are top-to-bottom compatible with all currently manufactured versions of NVIDIA’s GPUs.
